An English Bride in Scotland
by Lynsay Sands
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
At the age of 7, Annabel was sold to the Abbey by her parents. Sending her down the path to become a nun. When her sister, who was raised at home, runs away with the stable boy from her arranged marriage, her parents scramble to bring Annabel home and marry her off in her sister's stead.
Ross MacKay is a Scottish laird coming to fetch his bride. Discovering the deceit being perpetrated by the bride's family, Ross has ever right to wave off this marriage for a proper Scottish lass...but once he lays eyes on the voluptuous bride to be he's smitten.
Quickly swept away by Ross, Annabel finds herself on the adventure of her life. Everything is new and exciting and Annabel quickly pulls Ross, his men and his entire castle staff in with her enthusiasm, cheerfulness and sincerity.
Something sinister is stalking Annabel and Ross taken by his English wife will move heaven and earth to keep her safe. Unsure the direction or motive behind the threat, the castle inhabitants and town's people ralley behind Annabel.
Annabel is completely delightful, enchanting everyone around her even the temperamental dog. I adored her cheerfulness and good nature. She is a breath of fresh air and always looks for the good in those around her.
Ross Mackay is the perfect plaid wearing Highland Alpha Hunk! He wisks Annabel away from her parents, when he felt she was being mistreated. Ross protects her and tries to make her adjustment to her new life easy and enjoyable. Truly a considerate man, a man perfect for Annabel.
I LOVED THIS STORY! An English Bride in Scotland is a refreshing, uplifting romance with tons of heart and soul. Lynsay Sands creates a band of characters you want to know, riveting you to the pages and leaving you wanting more. There was a perfect blend of story and combustable, swoon worthy, romantic encounters. This is suppose to be the first in a new historical series by Lynsay Sands, a series I WILL be following!
