Excerpt © 2013by Carly Fall - All Rights Reserved “Margaret?” She jumped and stepped back, putting a hand over her heart. The miner she had seen earlier stood before her, and now that he was closer, a strong feeling of recognition overcame her. She tried to remember where she knew him from, but the information eluded her. “I’m sorry,” she said. “Do I know you?” The man smiled, his teeth bright against his dirt-stained skin. She guessed his age at twenty-five or so as he took off his hat and ran his fingers through a mop of chin-length black hair. His light blue eyes twinkled as he smiled. “It’s me, Joseph. I’m shocked that you’re here. I knew you’d come back, Margaret.” Why was he calling her Margaret? The last time someone called her by her given name she had been in line waiting to be summoned by the worker at the DMV. A cauldron of emotions swept through Maggie, and she took another step away from him. Her heart raced as she tried to put a name on the feelings: uncertainty, excitement, relief, fear, and . . . something else she couldn’t pinpoint. For the life of her, she couldn’t place where she knew this man. However, it was obvious he was very pleased and seemed excited to see her. “I’m sorry, but it’s just not coming to me. Where have we met?” she asked. “Margaret, I’m your husband, Joseph. Please try to remember,” he said. Her husband? What he said resonated as truth deep within Maggie, and she felt the urge to run, but something held her there, standing in front the miner. She shook her head. Obviously, this man . . . Joseph . . . had her confused with someone else. “I wasn’t sure it was you until you smiled at me,” he said, “but then I knew. Only you could smile at me like that and light a fire within my heart.” Maggie swallowed, trying to wet her throat so she could set this guy straight. “I’ve been waiting for you for so long, Margaret. I’m so happy to see you.”

 Dii's 5 Star Review:

Looking for a sweet, romantic tale of soulmates bound through time with a love strong enough that after 100 years, one soul is still waiting for the return of his true love? Joseph still waits patiently for his Margaret to return to him someday. His ghost walks through time unseen and unheard because of a vow he made to his wife, who died in childbirth.

In modern times, Maggie has had a gut-wrenching, emotionally debilitating marriage and divorce from a narcissistic man who saw her as unappealing, overweight and embarrassing to be around. Her ego is crushed and she needs a break, a short sight-seeing trip to an old mining town in Arizona. On a tour through an abandoned mine, she sees and talks to a man who no one else can see or hear. He claims she is his wife, Margaret, reincarnated and returned to him. Is she losing her mind or is she having flashbacks to a previous life with this kind and gorgeous man? How can a living being love a ghost? How can they be together?

Yesterday’s Kiss by Carly Fall is pure romantic perfection with its gentle pace, emotional tension and a heart-melting ghost who is everything his Margaret/Maggie needs and dreams of in a man. Both characters have felt the pain of loss, but Joseph has the advantage of time eternal and his love and his memories. Maggie has been through the emotional wringer and finding Joseph still doesn’t always feel real, even though she is “seeing” things that she knows really happened. Her reactions were very realistic! Ms. Falls has created a beautiful tribute to true love that is meant to be. The world she has created almost fades to the background as my focus was on the interaction of Joseph and Maggie, their words, their shared life, even a trip to the home they once lived in. If you’re looking for a sigh-worthy romance that will glide through your heart and imagination, I recommend you read Yesterday’s Kiss and leave reality behind for a short while.

  1. Soulmates? It's so easy to say yes, but I really don't know. Can two people fit together? Yes. Is that they only one out there for them? I would hate to think you only get one chance in life.

  2. No and yes, I do not believe in one perfect person is out there for everyone. I believe that you love is a choice, why do people go in and out of love so much...they choose to. Just as I believe two can choose to be the perfect person for the other and therefore be the forever person to spend their life with.

  3. Yes, I absolutely do believe in Soul Mates...you can have more than one to come into your life, if you could be your love, it could be your best friend, or someone who is just important where you click instantly as if you have known that person forever. We all have people like that in our lives. Sometimes you can think someone is your soul mate and they are not, they are on your path to teach you a lesson and lead you to your soul mate as far as love goes. I know that to be my case...I had to go thru heck in my first marriage and in doing so that led me to the man who truly is my love soul mate...couldn't imagine my life without him...we've been together 13 yrs and counting...

  4. I believe there's more than one person for everyone but being married for 20 plus years I feel like I'm connected to my hubby in a very special way and sometimes it does seem we reflect the others soul :)

  5. I believe in soul mates. I don't think many of us get a chance to connect with ours in every lifetime, but I do believe.
