Synopsis:

When Jill met Jay Greenfield she knew she had found her forever love. She was a kindergarten teacher, he was a high-powered attorney and their lives were perfect. But when a tragic accident takes Jay’s life, this young bride is left to pick up the pieces.

Jill finds herself a young widow facing multiple decisions she thought she had a lifetime to decide. With support from her childhood best friends, Lanie and Stella, Jill attempts to piece her life back together. With nightmares plaguing her dreams and the struggles of constant grief over Jay’s passing, Stella and Lanie keep near constant vigilance over her.

In the process of settling the estate, Jill learns that her husband was not quite the man she thought he was. She finds herself transported to the small beach town of Oak Island, North Carolina. But the fairy tale ending she envisioned no longer exists. She must face the reality that Jay is gone as she finds herself having a chance at love one more time.

Safe and Sound follows a yearlong journey of love, loss, friendship, and conquering the unexpected.

Safe & Sound by T. S. Krupa
My Rating:  5 Stars

The beginning of married life is filled with joy, dreams and plans for the future, the last thing one thinks of is that anything could bring that future to a screeching halt. When Jay left for his early morning run, neither he or Jill had any idea that fate and a drunk driver would end their happy ever after. Emotionally devastated, her heart shredded, Jill Greenfield sinks into a deep despair, unable to cope with the day to day tasks one takes for granted. If not for the love and support of her two best friends, her fragile state would have consumed her totally. Jill and Jay shared everything, or did they? What secrets had Jay kept from Jill? Would his complete adoration and need to care for her from beyond the veil of death bring her more guilt and grief, or will it bring her out of the dark and lead her into rekindling the joys of being alive? Was this his way of showing his undying love? When everyone else failed to truly heal Jill, is it possible a guitar playing surfer boy was sent just for her?

Congratulations to author T. S. Krupa, for her magical talent with storytelling from the heart! Safe and Sound is a tale of devastating loss, grief and the struggle to find a reason to go on, while being shocked time after time when the realization hits that no matter how close two people are, no matter how much they love each other, there is still a piece that is kept hidden.
T.S. Krupa’ mastery of creating the mood of a scene through pacing and vivid world building is a gift to her readers. There is no fast and furious race to the finish, no over the top heroics, but there is that genuine roller coaster of emotions that threatens to shred you heart one moment as you cry for the pain her characters feel and smile with joy as you watch the baby steps of recovery.
What could have been a dark and maudlin romantic tale becomes a fresh start filled with hope as T. S. Krupa fleshes out each character and fits them neatly into their slot, for use at the precise moment they are needed, for better or worse. If you’re looking for something to curl up with that sparkles with its own brilliant light, Safe and Sound is one of those hidden gems you must try.

I received a review copy from T.S. Krupa in exchange for my honest review and the short of it is that I honestly fell in love with this book.
