Assassin. Soldier. Arrow. That is who Vasic is, who he will always be. His soul drenched in blood, his conscience heavy with the weight of all he’s done, he exists in the shadows, far from the hope his people can almost touch—if only they do not first drown in the murderous insanity of a lethal contagion. To stop the wave of death, Vasic must complete the simplest and most difficult mission of his life.

For if the Psy race is to survive, the empaths must wake…

Having rebuilt her life after medical “treatment” that violated her mind and sought to stifle her abilities, Ivy should have run from the black-clad Arrow with eyes of winter frost. But Ivy Jane has never done what she should. Now, she'll fight for her people, and for this Arrow who stands as her living shield, yet believes he is beyond redemption. But as the world turns to screaming crimson, even Ivy’s fierce will may not be enough to save Vasic from the cold darkness…

Shield of Winter (Psy-Changeling, #13)My Review
Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh

There has never been a Nalini Singh book that I didn't gobble up. Her Psy-Changeling series is the Bomb! Shield of Winter was another ABSOLUTELY-FANTASTIC addition to this marvelous series.

This is a story about the Arrow, soldier, Vasic and the misunderstood and eliminated E class in hiding, Ivy Jane. For years the Arrows have been tasked with eliminating the E's from existence. Now the weight of the entire survival of the Psy net and the Psy people, as a whole, lay in the E's. They must learn how to use an ability they've hid and ignored while thousands die around them. No pressure, right... Top that with Vasic, emotional-less Arrow paired with Ivy, emotions run wild E.

The romantic element is wonderfully sweet and endearing with an amazing air of innocence. I know, its hard to picture an assassin innocent but it totally works.

If you are a changeling fan, don't be disheartened by the Psy base of characters in this storyline...Singh pulls in plenty of the past characters including many changelings.

I believe Singh a master of storytelling. She sucks you into a contemporary world that closely mirrors our own and makes you believe you walk with her engaging characters on your own streets. I loved Shield of Winter! Of course, I didn't want it to end. Clearly Singh can't write fast enough for me but with all great reads that is the case. Just. Can't. Get. Enough. Where does this adventure leads next? I can tell you one thing, I will be on that pre-ordered list as soon as it goes live.
