The Fifth Column: the world’s most powerful and secretive organization. They run our militaries. They run our governments. They run our terrorist cells.

Recruited as a child, Sophia is a deniable operative for the Fifth Column. Like all operatives, Sophia’s DNA has been altered to augment her senses and her mind is splintered into programmed subsets.

On a routine mission in Iran something goes catastrophically wrong. Bugs are beginning to appear in Sophia’s programming and the mission spins out of control.

High-speed chases, gun fights, helicopter battles, immortal psychopaths, super soldiers and mutant abilities are all in the mix in this edge-of-your-seat action-packed techno-thriller.

Perfect for fans of Matthew Reilly, THE CHIMERA VECTOR melds sci-fi with sizzling espionage action.

The Chimera Vector (Fifth Column, #1)My Review
The Chimera Vector by Nathan M. Farrugia
My Rating:  5 Stars

Is The Chimera Vector by Nathan M. Farrugia a tale of super soldiers run amok or is it a tale that fuels the conspiracy theories that one super-secret, super powerful organization rules the world, controlling everything from governments to economies to terrorism to wars? Picture the most terrifying rollercoaster ever, ride it through a dark tunnel as you travel at breakneck speeds, through a myriad of twists and turns, now you have the feel for The Chimera Vector.

Sophia has lived under the thumb of scientific research, like a lab rat. Her genetics have been altered, as have those of her fellow comrades. Their missions are given to them, and they carry out the blackest of black ops, assassinations, you name it, if deniability is needed her team and other super soldiers are the go to people. What happens if there is a “bug” in the code? What happens when the best of the best starts having flashbacks to a time that should be erased from their memory? What if the scenarios given for each mission is a lie, a hallucination? Sophia begins to doubt those she has trusted, things are not as they seem and she doesn’t know who to trust. Knowledge is power and she needs knowledge, but how can she stand up to her puppetmasters when she should never be able to doubt them? Is the perfect killing machine finding the human side of herself?

Get ready for a lot of action, a lot of secrets and some HUGE reveals along the way, thanks to the writing prowess and incredible imagination of Nathan M. Farrugia as he weaves an amazing tale of power, deceit and double crosses. Espionage at its finest, intrigue that will tighten your gut and light every nerve on fire, The Chimera Vector goes far beyond science fiction and becomes a fast-paced mystery-thriller that defies early detection of where we are headed. Mr. Farrugia’s characters are well-developed with an extremely strong female lead in Sophia. From the evil to the strong to the quirky, each character will grab you with their 3 dimensional personalities as they drive this tale to its conclusion. Feel the fear, the anger, and the mistrust while wading through the chaotic storms raging in the characters’ heads. With a crisp writing style that ramps up the tension even higher, Nathan Farrugia will have you thinking long and hard afterwards, as you ponder the what-ifs of his world. If an author can pull you in and make you believe in and feel what he writes, they have a special gift and an incredible sense of literary timing!

If you like espionage, a good science fiction and non-stop intrigue, I highly recommend The Chimera Vector!
