The TravelerMy Review
The Traveler by Melissa Delport
My Rating: 5 Brilliant Stars

Reviewers toss around words like “fresh,” “unique,” “brilliantly creative” and “one of the best books I have ever read,” right? Melissa Delport’s The Traveler blew me away! It is far and away one of the freshest, most unique and brilliantly creative tales I have EVER read, which makes it one of the best books I have ever read!

Years ago, Dex came into Rachel’s life, stole her heart and disappeared. Life goes on, Rachel becomes a strong willed woman, but always in her heart, she hopes that one day Dex will walk back into her life. Little would she know that when Dex finally returns, the extinction of the human race is eminent, storms rage, fires burn out of control, flood waters cover homes and powerful winds are wreaking havoc. What is Dex’s connection to these catastrophic events? Is there any spark of love left in his heart for Rachel?
In a race against hope and time, Rachel is determined to outrun the destructive forces devastating the world, but what chance does she stand to remain alive? Will she ever learn how this new, cold and hard Dex really feels about her?

Do you like car chases, crashes, and the fight for survival? How about seeing humanity at its BEST during a crisis uncovering unlikely heroes, pure acts of kindness, bravery and even budding love? Melissa Delport gives all that and MORE to her readers in a rapid-fire science fiction adventure filled with danger, intrigue and life-changing events.

Ms. Delport writes with bold, self-assured strokes filled with imagination in a world she has created that actually breathes as you travel through it. With characters that come to life, some innocent, some cold and dark, many just “regular” people who rise to great heights under duress, I was often left breathless in their midst as they struggled to survive while always looking out for each other. Rachel is strong, intelligent, loyal and brave, all while dealing with who her “Dex” really is. Dex, I think is the most unique and intricate character, hard to grasp at first, but as his history is unveiled, one sees the inner turmoil and battle he endures because of his feelings for Rachel.

The Traveler goes beyond being a hidden gem to being a hidden mother lode of fantastic reading!
