Six months ago, Avery
thought the world ended outside Dome Four. Thought she was one of the
few of her kind. Thought the war that brought the human race to the
brink of extinction was over.
But six months can change everything.
fighting to escape a tyranny she didn't even know existed, Avery has
had to come to grips with all the secrets she's uncovered. But more
secrets continue to come to light, revealing how little of her world she
truly knew. When evidence starts to show that Dome Four might be under
siege, Avery knows what she must do.
Returning to the dome she
longed to escape is a challenge for Avery, but now she knows there’s
corruption lurking in the shadows. A massive steam shortage leaves half
the dome without power, and people are falling ill. Dying.
And they’re blaming Avery.
Six months can change everything. One more month could kill everyone. The clock is ticking.
Iron Pendulum by Megan Curd
Full disclosure, I started this as part of a tour review and had to immediately put it down, What??? How could I??? Because there was no way I was going to wonder about the strength of book one and its background story! And now, both books pinging around in my brain, making me giddy for more, I can say without a doubt, Iron Pendulum by Megan Curd has carved a place in my YA dystopian heart!
With a brilliant, foreboding and riveting style, Megan Curd took me storm with a pace that may be faster than a speeding bullet and writing that is more powerful than a locomotive. WWIII has decimated the world, mutations occur and some of the remaining survivors have received gifts that will help the world survive. Different gifts surface, some stronger than others, but one gifted young woman that stands out above the others, Avery. With her cohorts in this adventure, hot, handsome and awesome, Jaxon, Sari, the tekkie, and her best friend, Alice, who possesses no super skills, called a traditional.
Now going undercover to aid the oppressed and discover what evil lurks in Dome 4, danger and drama are behind every turn. Deceit, distrust and the potential for failure is not only possible, but highly likely, making who to trust the question of the hour and survival slim. As the clock ticks, the countdown to success or failure is in its final moments.
Megan Curd, you are brilliant! You are now up there with my favorite authors, who know how to blend good vs evil, deceit versus loyalty and heartbreaking moments with silly snark and humor. With a detailed world to enter and non-stop action from start to finish, Ms. Curd has taken a dystopian world, added fantasy and even demonstrated a possible result of Earth’s passion for bombing first and asking questions later.
