Gorgeous and successful, Rory Langtry seemed to have it all. Daughter of a movie star and sister of a supermodel, Rory was engaged to sexy artist, Junior Lara. But her bright future went dark one terrible, bloody night that left her sister dead and the accused murderer—Junior—in an extended coma.

Now, five years later, Rory appears to have put the past behind her. She has a wonderful new fiancé and heads a successful cosmetics company. Yet dark secrets threaten. Across town, Junior lies close to death but before he departs he seeks to clear his name.

It starts with a feeling. It turns into a vision. Soon Rory is having sensations that only Junior could experience—from the horrifying to the erotic. Then she learns details about the awful night that only Junior could know, newfound knowledge with potentially fatal consequences. When another act of violence rocks her family, Rory plunges deeper into the unsolved mystery, led by an inexplicable visitor to a dangerous time and place where all will be revealed at last. But until then, Junior will not let her go.

The Night VisitorMy Review
The Night Visitor by Dianne Emley

Her beautiful, wild and famous twin sister, Anya, is shot and killed. Her fiancĂ©, Junior, is the prime suspect, but he, too was shot when a supposed self-inflicted wound fails to end his life. For five long years he lies comatose and slowly dying in a hospital bed, unable to communicate, unable to defend himself. Rory Langtry has moved on, or tried to, making a name for herself in the world of feminine beauty and becoming engaged to a successful, handsome man. As Junior gets closer to taking his last breath, Rory begins to feel a strange connection to him, a mental connection, a voice, images that only Junior would know. Is she losing her mind? Is Junior trying to tell her what really happened that horrible night? Will Rory’s dysfunctional, publicity-loving family have her committed for trying to get to the bottom of the mystery? Although Rory has put herself back together, is it possible that the love that she and Junior shared transcends all boundaries? Is their love truly over or will it last through eternity and the truth of what happened that night?

The Night Visitor by Dianne Emley is dark, atmospheric and chilling while still being a love story that will cause a lump in your throat. Ms. Emley writes with a taut stroke, twisting her tale just enough to keep the reader guessing about “who-dun-it.” Secrets exposed, lies revealed and truths brought to light define this conflicted paranormal intrigue as Ms. Emley reaches into the darkest corners of her world to tell a tale that will stick in your memory long after the last page.

I received an ARC edition from Alibi in exchange for my honest review.
