Prepare to be swept away by a talented debut author with a passionate, powerful story to tell.
They meet on a beach. . . . Abby
Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not
when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t
looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of
missions . . . and fallen brothers.
They only have a week. . . . Abby
has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the
enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat
injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made:
to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what
he’s always wanted: a family.
But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt
opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to
say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that
beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth
Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor
Sometimes you just need to have a sweet romance, heave a few sighs and go with the flow of the story. Light, often tender, definitely dreamy, everything fell almost too perfectly into place, almost like a fairy tale romance. Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor tells the story of one SEAL, who lives for the danger of his job and one widowed, young mother of four small children with another on the way as they meet while vacationing by the shore. Has Matt McKinney’s life plans taken an abrupt turn toward domesticity? The pull of the children, the beauty, inside and out of their mother and Matt is hooked and will do anything to show Abby is wants to be there for the long haul. Only six months have passed since the death of her husband, a man who never knew how to be a faithful husband and loving father, Abby is determined to learn to stand on her own, no matter what. She never expected to find anyone man enough to take on her family and accept them as his own, but before her stood this powerful man who seemed to sense every need of every one of her family members, including her. Can a career SEAL and a single mother adjust to the wants and needs of the other for the long haul or will some things become insurmountable barriers?
Just when I’m hearing bells ringing and birds singing, strife arises, issues must be resolved and reality seems to be getting in a few good jabs and uppercuts. Will these two pass the test of their love, their insecurities and the strength of their commitment?
Claudia Connor knows how to melt hearts and bring romance to life without muddying the waters with too many stark realities. This is true romance, two people meet and the magic is there, making the obstacles fade into the background. I, for one loved the gentle flow created by Ms. Connor, as she kept to the light side of love. I was left with a smile, a sign and just knew everything would work out fine! Wonderful writing, wonderful characters, I’m looking forward to more from this author.
I received an ARC edition from Loveswept in exchange for my honest review.
