Dead Bound Publishing presents an exciting debut novel from R.J. Loom!

Nia Williams could never have imagined the way her ordinary life would be turned upside down after the death of her grandfather. A chance find unwittingly has her discovering the truth of an ancient Greek myth, plunging her into a world where the legends she only read about in her history books become her reality.

Plagued with a strange link to others’ past, she follows the path of an ancient artifact around the world and throughout time as it reveals its story to guide her to contain powers once thought lost to the rise of modern religion.

Two men affected by the artifact vie for her allegiance; Gabriel, a man haunted by his own past, and smooth talking Viktor who wants Nia to embrace a life she never imagined.

A love sacrificed… An impossible decision…

As lines blur between right and wrong, how much will Nia be willing to sacrifice?
The Ilia StoneMy Review
The Ilia Stone by R. J. Loom
Grab your favorite reading spot, hang out the Do Not Disturb Sign and settle in so debut author, R. J. Loom can dazzle you with her genre crossing novel, The Ilia Stone. When Nia’s grandfather passed away, little did she know that one decision made to avoid the wake would transform her world into the things that myths and gods are born from. What looked to be an ordinary stone will bring fantasy to life and plunge Nia into a world where the past collides with her mind; she gains supernatural abilities that, like her, become a pawn in a twisted struggle to stop evil from gaining dominance over the world. Are her new powers a chance for the survival of old gods as the religions of today dampen their flames? Or will they be her ticket to a hell like no one has ever known?

Torn between her heart and a perceived betrayal, Nia is caught in a tug of war between two powerful immortals, one good, and the other evil. She is left with no choice but to follow the wishes of a man who both excites her and repels her with his dark dealings and savvy sense of control and domination. Addiction and fear keep her trapped within the clutches of Viktor, while Gabriel haunts her dreams and her heart. But can she trust him anymore? How will this end?

R. J. Loom has built an edgy and dark world where power is mesmerizing and the Ilia Stone holds the ultimate power. Nia is the star around which the supporting characters circle, at once tough, vulnerable and broken, her inner strength and sense of right and wrong war with her resentment and the pain of loss. Ms. Loom has done an outstanding job of creating Nia and bringing her to life on every page as we follow her journey. There is a sad mystery surrounding Gabriel, who seems to radiate both goodness and guilt. With his wealth, power and plan to dominate and control, Viktor is the perfect villain with a vulnerable spot under his ruthlessness.

When I entered Ms. Loom’s world, I was immediately drawn to her ability to take me into the heart of her tale, leaving me both enthralled and able to savor each page, action and emotion in this amazing read. Don’t look for hearts and flowers in a fast-paced read, look to the dark side and savor each detailed page, because when an author can make me lose track of reality, they have done their job well and R. J. Loom left me speechless!

I received an ARC edition from R. J. Loom in exchange for my honest review.
