Although this is the third book in the Flying Horse Trilogy, it is not necessary to read them in order.
Ralf knows he must take over his father’s bakery, but is it wrong to
want some adventure before he does? New to High Meadow, he is
befriended by the beautiful and dangerous Branwen, who has her own
goal—to entice Ralf to help her steal a winged horse and return it to
Meanwhile, Ralf’s sister, Alyna, dives into barn life. Becoming a
groom to a winged foal is a lot of responsibility to the horse, to the
barn, and to her father, who idolizes the wrong barn leader. Politics,
greed, and revenge swirl around the teenaged siblings as they struggle
to be true to their family and their future.

In a tale filled with all the magical trappings of a true fantasy, prepare to be swept away on the wings of the flying horses of High Meadow and Tremeirchson as this delightful tale unfolds before your eyes.
Under a Wild and Darkening Sky by author Linda Ulleseit is pure fantasy bliss with just enough intrigue and adventure to bring out the inner fantasy hero in all of us! Ralf and Alyna are the children of a baker, they work hard alongside their parents, but this life isn’t for either of them, and face it, how easy is it to tell your parents you want something different when they place so much value on the legacy they plan to leave you?
Ralf finds any way possible to not work and go on his adventures, especially after meeting the wild Branwen, leaving Alyna to cover for him. Alyna has dreams of her own and thus begins the most dangerous adventure of their lives. With a group of young rebels, they embark on a journey to right a wrong from the past, but will the price they pay be too high?
Lina Ulleseit has created another world, another era and all the possibilities of the power of passionate youths committed to a mission that speaks to their hearts. Each scene comes to life, from the smells of the baking bread to the heat of the ovens, to the turmoils of youth and learning to spread ones wings. Ms. Ulleseit almost dares her readers not to fall into this tale, believing in the possibilities of flight and fancy. Truly a magnet for even the most reluctant young reader as well as an adult who enjoys a well-told tale that takes one through the veil of reality into the world of magical delight. With a little of something for everyone, the adventure is just waiting to be enjoyed. although part of a YA fantasy series, this can easily be read as a stand alone!
