The stunning sequel to the thrilling paranormal romance novel Everlasting!
One lie will change everything.
Faye Middleton has secured the Dagger of Retribution for the High Priesthood, but in doing so, she’s opened the door to more demands set by them. She now has to break the Holy Seal, and soon. Trapped in the alluring Ethryeal City, Faye is pushed to the breaking point trying to discover just what she is truly capable of, even if it means destroying herself in the process.
With the clock ticking down to the war between both Covens, and the truth about her parent’s mysterious disappearance within her reach, Faye is faced with tough choices that will forever change her. Will Faye be able to handle the demands from the Priesthood, and still be able to continue her search for her parents?
But more importantly, can she survive the truth she finds?

In fact, most of our world was built on the foundation of lies, some with the intent to serve the greater good, and others with the intent to serve one person’s giant ambitions. But the root of every lie is exactly the same. They’re all equally deceitful, treacherous propositions spewed from the mouths of men and woman alike.
Lies have the power to sound right, yet feel wrong. They have the ability to confuse your heart and twist your mind. The problem is, sometimes these lies become easier to believe than the truth. They become a sort of safety net from reality, a way to avoid what lingers in the back of your mind. And some say that over time, if you believe them long enough, they become real.
At least, that’s what my mother had hoped would happen in my case. But just like every lie ever told, all it takes is one small crack in that foundation for the whole thing to come crashing down.
And it did.
Because everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie. A beautiful and heartrending lie. I wasn’t the Defect my parents would regretfully see off to college before turning their backs on me. I wasn’t the weak friend who didn’t have enough backbone to stand up for what’s right, nor was I the loner without a purpose or a chance at real love. And I sure as hell wasn’t the weapon Bael and the members of the Darkyn Coven intended me to be.
But I am the weapon the Primeval Coven needs me be. Or so they keep saying.
In my Coven, there are two kinds of people: The Hunters and the Witches. They used to hate each other, even though they were on the same team, back in the old days when cars didn’t exist and time was tracked on a sundial. They hated each other so much that eventually a war was brought on by one of the original Witches—a Divine named Mourdyn.
The war was known as the Great Battle of the Covens. It was meant to wipe out the existence of every Hunter, and it devastated the population of my people, the Primevals. It annihilated the population of the Darkyns—the Witches who abandoned our Coven to follow the whims of Mourdyn and his persuasive lies.
But even though a lie can be struck down—imprisoned even—it can’t ever be fully erased. The scars it leaves behind on this earth and in our hearts are eternal, and somewhere along the way, someone will pick that lie back up and breathe life into it once more. Give it the wings it needs to rise again. Only, this time, that lie will be stronger, with an even greater purpose.
And that’s the part that scares me the most.
I glance down at my leg. The burn marks left behind from Bael’s wrath still tingle with echoes of the scorching fire he sent after me after I escaped with Weldon, reminding me that I’m nowhere near ready for the fight that’s sure to come.
And that has to change.
That’s part of why I agreed to come here to Ethryeal City—to the heart of our Coven. It’s where Hunters and Witches in an affinity bond enter as Night Watchmen and leave as Elites. Where those who have broken our Coven laws go to face the High Priesthood. Where those who need refuge… those like me… come to hide.
The only thing is, I never agreed to being separated from everyone I know. They call it debriefing, but with every day that passes, I’m beginning to wonder… to question how long it actually takes.
It’s been seven days and fourteen hours since my unfortunate and unplanned encounter with Bael—the Demon King of the Underground. In these last seven days, I’ve made more promises than I can count on two hands. And in those promises, I think I’ve told more lies than I ever have in my life.
Honesty seems to have slipped out of her bedroom from inside my integrity and, in her place, deceit has crept in with the offer of survival. If I just nod along with the many blending faces all interviewing me, then maybe somehow, I’ll make it out of this phase in my life alive. I’ll make it back into Jaxen’s arms and back into the graces of the friends I’ve come to trust.
But what deceit doesn’t offer is solace, because you can’t fool deceit. It knows every trick in the book.
Every day, twice a day, for the past four days, I’ve recounted in specific order how my friends and I nearly lost our lives in hopes that we’d gain an advantage on the Darkyn Coven and intercept them from taking the Dagger of Retribution. The one that has the power to initiate the removal of the Veil that separates the Underground and all its evil from the humans. The very Dagger that only I have the power to touch.
I’ve been singularly interviewed by every member on the Priesthood, and then by every general and Elder within the hierarchy of our Coven.
And I’m so very tired.
For the past four days, since I left the safe house beneath the church owned by the Night Watchmen, when I haven’t been in a laboratory undergoing strenuous testing, I’ve spent the remaining hours kept in a holding cell stripped of all personality. Chained down by claustrophobia. Shackled to the fears given free rein to destroy my hope.
I don’t have a home anymore. I have four white walls, one white jumpsuit, a white bed, white sheets… the color was bleached from my life the moment I crossed into the legendary Ethryeal City. I keep trying to remember the last time I saw Jaxen’s face, but my soul has fed so often on the happiness of that memory, I fear it’s disappearing. And I don’t know when I’m going to see him again.
They took everything away from me just to keep me repressed. Controlled. But what they don’t know is they cannot control what they do not own, and they do not own me. I can’t trust anyone. No one but myself, because all I know is I am more of a threat to them than I thought.
And the High Priesthood doesn’t know what to do with me.

Werewolf princess Ashling Boru's eighteenth birthday is only a year away, which means that she only has twelve months before she is claimed and fulfills her prophecy to unite the packs and lead her people. Her father decrees that her four suitors must fight in the Bloodrealms, the werewolves' ancient underground fighting world, and the winner will have King Boru's choice to win Ashling's hand. The wolf laws are rigid and barbaric, and Ashling's illicit love for Grey, if discovered, will mean his death. But when Ashling and Grey get trapped in the blood-soaked depths of the Bloodrealms, they find ancient horrors far greater than Ashling's father's rule.
With betrayal around every corner and old nemeses set to destroy Ashling, she is more divided than ever between the destiny she didn't choose and the love that she did. To make matters worse, her decision will not only set the course of her future, but the future of her entire race.

My 5 Star Review
Bloodrealms by Aurora Whittet

Ooooohhhhh! Shiny! Aurora Whittet has another gem to add to my collection! Book two of the Bloodmark Saga, Bloodrealms is just as brilliant as its predecessor, Bloodmark ! More twists, more tangles, more than an angst-filled young adult romance, Bloodrealms sets Ashling further down the path that will determine the fate of her entire race. Torn between duty and love, no matter which fork in the road she takes, there will be pain, will no one champion her cause for the freedom to choose love?
Nothing more than a pawn for her father’s machinations, Ashling is to be the prize in a brutal and barbaric werewolf ritual as four suitors must fight to the finish to win her hand. Hasn’t she been through enough, in her past? Strong-willed and defiant, Ashling tries to go through the motions of entertaining her suitors, but it’s Grey who has her heart, the half-breed, the least likely to win. Can she risk his life or settle for another kind-hearted, warrior suitor? When the brother of her now dead tormentor offers for her hand, how could her father say yes?

No longer able to watch her people fight and die for her, Ashling finally grows a warrior’s heart, now she needs the skills, but will it be enough to turn the tides that all seem to flow against her? Everyone is not as they seem, friends hide their true nature, strangers become allies and Ashling learns the meaning of loyalty to her people. Will she ever learn to stand against her father and his archaic ways? Will she learn what being royalty means from her mother?

Again, I am amazed by Aurora Whittet and her power over her pen. Ms. Whittet delivers another YA fantasy taut with tension, the heart of youth, and the confusion of too much responsibility for a teenaged princess. Ashling grows exponentially throughout this tale, finding her footing and looking beyond what she wants to what others need around her. Even the “bad guys” have a side that is fascinating as their stories are unfolded. Every bit as good as book one, but with a slightly different flavor, I highly recommend this series and watching Ashling grow!

Sixteen-year-old werewolf princess Ashling Boru is different from other wolves—she was able to shift to wolf form at birth. Rather than bringing pride to her family, it brings fear, and as a result, she is forced to live in seclusion in Ireland’s countryside. Ashling’s reputation is further blackened when she refuses her betrothed and defies the ancient laws. When her pack’s oldest rivals begin hunting her, she finds herself in the small town of York Harbor, Maine—far from everything she’s ever known.

In Maine, she crosses paths with the dark and rebellious Grey Donavan, and something ignites within her soul. There’s just one problem: Grey is human. Their instant connection turns into a passionate romance, and Ashling begins to believe she can create her own life outside of wolf laws. When she begins to uncover long-buried pack secrets—secrets that threaten to destroy all she holds dear—Ashling’s courage and tenacity are tested. The Leopard Vanguard

Prologue: The Opportune Battle
{March 12th, 36 AD}

“Ad augusta per angusta.”

"To high places by narrow roads." -Latin expression

At the edge of the world’s greatest Empire, two armies gathered on a battlefield.

Tullus Acilius Ulixes, Prime officer of the First Cohort, and senior Centurion of the 3rd Legion, watched the opposing army of Parthians gathering in the distance. Here he was, surveying another battleground: this one a grassland, dotted with short clover patches stretched out over an expanse, soft earth under his feet. Men would die here today. “ I hear the Parthians are quite an effective fighting force,” Tullus said. His friend and Optio, Decimus Axius, was preparing to leave for the final inspection. Around them men were preparing the siege engines for battle.

“I hope this young Prince our leaders are backing is worth the blood and sweat of five thousand Roman soldiers,” Decimus said.

“Vitellius knows what he’s doing, Decimus. Besides, Emperor Tiberius wants the incumbent Artabanus II off the Parthian throne. He says this new figurehead Prince, Tridates, will bring stability along our eastern borders.”

“Sometimes you sound more like a bloody politician than a Roman officer, Tullus,” Decimus said. He trudged off to inspect the ranks.

Tullus grinned. He certainly didn’t feel like a politician: dressed in his steel helm with transverse red plume crest, ring mail shirt under a leather harness decorated with gold phalerae. Leather pteruges extended beneath his harness while a blue cloak and greaves completed his uniform. Tullus turned to admire the first line of his troops: dressed in their strip armor, iron helms and armed with shields and spears. Despite the tedious four day march from their base in Syria they were ready for battle–that’s what it meant to march under the Eagles of Rome. The pale blue heavens stretched out above him, filled with soft clouds outlining the yellow sun. His attention centered on a jagged cloud resembling a Griffin’s head as it announced its regal presence across the sky. He had seen a drawing of a Combat Griffin once, in a cave, when he was a boy, its image forever etched in his memory. The majestic creatures had disappeared years ago, while their legendary riders, the Air Paladins, had faded into history. Tullus sighed and turned his attention back to his surroundings. The sun beat down on him mercilessly, warm for March, and it would get warmer once the battle commenced–the close proximity of men killing one another did that.

“Something on your mind, Tullus?” Decimus was back from his inspection.

Tullus eyed the jagged cloud again. “What I wouldn’t do for an Air Legion of Combat Griffins above us.”

“And who would ride them my friend?”

“Well it wouldn’t be me, Decimus. You know I don’t like heights.”

Dii's 5Star Review
Ancient Roman history comes to life with a fantasy flavor as a mysterious cloaked hero steps from the circus ring into a cunning journey of revenge, retribution and so much more. Caligula is in power, wallowing in his debaucheries, spending the gold in the coffers of Rome. Political ambition, black mail and greed are padding the coin purses of Rome’s leaders. Meanwhile, one of Rome’s Elite Praetorian Guards wishes for more, and being spurned by his wealthy love, setting out on a journey to find happiness and family. What Tullus finds is a small troupe of entertainers and its leader, Paullus, a quiet and honorable man who keeps his past buried beneath his friendly fa├žade. Enter Celestra, a leopardess with mystical abilities who bonds with Tullus, becoming his friend, protector, ally and partner in entertainment. She also becomes an extension of Tullus and together after the murder of Paullus by hired thugs in Rome.

Larger than life, the aptly named Leopard King becomes a hero for the middle and lower class, putting the upper, ruling class on the run. What wrath will rain down on those he is helping? Will he avenge his friend’s killer and live, or will his anger overpower his skill as a soldier and get his troupe murdered one by one? What secret was Paullus hiding about his past?

The Leopard Vanguard by T. A. Uner is on the road to epic historical fantasy, filled with intense detail, battles, intrigue and exposing the over indulgences of the era. As these characters act out the action, what becomes memorable is the difference between those who should be acting in the interest of the people and their true motives and wicked machinations. For Tullus, his own high code of honor and desire for right to overpower evil might, he makes the perfect legend to pass on through the generations. Celestra, well she is simply amazing, powerful and wise, a brave partner for Tullus in his mission.

T. A. Uner gives readers larger-than-life heroes, black-hearted villains and one crazed ruler who will keep you trapped in an era from long ago. Be prepared for the sights, sounds and smells that will bring each scene and each battle to life in this volatile time. Will you hear the swords? The screams and chaos of battle? The pain of love unrequited? The uncertainty of love re-found? Yes, this is an emotional treasure chest that will leave fantasy lovers calling for more!

The Donor III by Nikki Rae

The Donor III
by Nikki Rae

My rating: 5 stars

The Donor (Part Three) by Nikki Rae is the third and final installment in her novella series. This series is so beautifully written and will draw you in immediately. I thought I had it all figured out and had an ending in mind as to how I thought things would go. Is that what happened? Not…at…all!!! I shouldn’t be surprised. Ms. Rae did the same thing to me at the ending of her Sunshine series.

Both Casey and Jonah have been dealt tough hands in life. Neither of their futures turning out the way that they might have anticipated. But fate brought them together because they needed each other. They met at a time in their lives when they needed each other most.

“Funny, how two people could know each other for such a short amount of time yet know the simplest things instantly.”

Casey needed Jonah for financial assistance so she could help her parents. But she needed him for other reasons as well. She just wanted to be treated normally. Not like someone that was sick, that didn’t have much time left.

Jonah needed Casey as well. I was shocked when I finally found out why. That is so not where I thought this was going. But Casey provided something else for Jonah as well. She opened his heart again, giving him hope.

The short time they spent together in Jonah’s Boston home was a time neither of them will forget. I loved both of these characters. Although I was pretty upset with why Jonah needed Casey, they both have good hearts. And I felt good about what they were able to do for one another. I’m going to remember these two for a long time. Can I come to terms with Casey’s decision in the end? I don’t know. But it’s what she wanted.

I’m so thankful to Nikki Rae for providing me a copy of this series to read for an honest review. I can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Our thanks to Guest Reviewer Carol Hanlon

The Donor Part II by Nikki Rae

The Donor
by Nikki Rae

My rating: 5 stars

The Donor part two is the second of three in a novella series by Nikki Rae. I would have thought it impossible to connect so quickly to these characters and feel so completely invested in their lives in this short amount of pages. But, believe me, it is possible. Nikki’s writing so beautifully captures our emotions and curiosity.

Casey has traveled to stay with Jonah, as a result of meeting on But Casey didn’t tell Jonah about her illness. Jonah, though, is every bit the savior as he not only lets her stay but cares for her. Casey’s illness is progressing at a rapid rate. Casey needs the money to take care of her parents and Jonah needs her blood.

Jonah is such a kind man but is still so mysterious. There are some new details revealed about him but still so very many questions. I was completely involved with this from page one. I want to THINK I know what is going on and if I am correct, that I know how I want and hope this will end. But I have a suspicion that part three will surprise me. I can’t wait to continue on and find out.

Thank you so much to Nikki Rae for providing me with a copy of this for an honest review. I love it and highly recommend it.

The Donor (Part 1) by Nikki Rae is the first part of a serial novella. It is very short but leaves you wanting more, more, more!

Casey Williams is 18 years old and lives in a run down trailer with her parents. Her father had a serious accident so every penny goes to paying his medical bills. Casey starts having head aches and they consistently are becoming more intense. She has also been getting nose bleeds. So now she has to pay for her own medical bills as well as her Dad’s.

Her friend from work tells Casey about and through this site she meets Jonah Black.

Nikki Rae is so devious. We watch while Casey and Jonah become acquainted and eventually meet in person. But just what sort of arrangement is this? What is it that Casey will be doing for Jonah?

Even though this little novella is so short, I instantly fell in love with Casey. Nikki Rae completely sucked me into the story and then…it was over. This is a fantastic start to what looks like it is going to be something completely unique and fabulous. There is a darkness to it but also a sweetness. I absolutely loved it and hope I don’t have to wait long for part 2.

Thank you so much to Nikki for allowing me to read this for an honest review. I absolutely loved it!

Can their love survive the haunting of Laurel Heights?

Laurel HeightsMy Review
Laurel Heights by Denise Moncrief

If you like to coast across genres, then this suspenseful, romantic, paranormal read should keep you smiling! Laurel Heights by Denise Moncrief doesn’t race along at the speed of light, you will feel every moment the characters are living, from things that go bump in the night to the awkward beginning of a new love that should be forbidden to the shock of truths buried long ago, like skeletons in the old family closet.

Laurel was running from her past, from a terrifying childhood to a dangerous boyfriend whose shady business dealings could cost her her life. As if destined, an aunt she never knew leaves her an old, rundown home outside a small town who claims the house is haunted. Is it or is someone out to fill a contract she fears her incarcerated ex has placed on her. How did he find her?

A hired handyman who doesn’t believe the town’s ghost stories is almost too good to be true, private, not much of a talker, he doesn’t ask questions Laurel doesn’t want to answer. Is that because he hides his own secrets? When a man is killed near her home, the police take a particular interest in Laurel and possibly Chase as the murderer, which makes no sense, until his identity is revealed. Meanwhile there are thumps and bumps and creaks at night, is it the just the old bones of an old home, or is there something or someone else in the house with Laurel? But can you bump into a ghost? Who should laurel fear most, the ghost, the police or Chase?

Denise Moncrief has piled layer upon layer of twists, turns and revelations into this eerie love story, all while keeping a dark veil of impending danger cleverly hiding the answers. Ms. Moncrief hasn’t given us a super heroine, she has created a true to life woman who has been beaten, battered and is mentally and emotionally played out. Laurel’s reserves are running low and she is terrified and not far from going over the edge. Chase comes across in the beginning as harsh, distant and a bit rough around the edges, but as the story progresses, he seems to file down his spikes and soften, just a little. This is fiction, a product of the author’s imagination and wow, Denise Moncrief has a lot going on in her head that she packages up in a perfect Halloween type read, even for you romance lovers !

Red of the WoodsMy Review
Red of the Woods by Lana Axe

Have you ever thought, “I wish there were fairytales for adults? Something a little darker, a little twisted, but give me an ending I can give a thumbs up to?” Well, Lana Axe must have been listening as she wrote her version of Little Red Riding Hood, Red of the Woods. Definitely not like those tales of childhood. Get ready to read a fascinating take on this tale, and try to remember it for a stormy night to share when the power goes out!

Was it a curse that started the tale of Red? Run out of town, threatened, exiled, a young girl and her grandmother are alone and defenseless in a small cabin in the woods. Grandma has been accused of being a witch, but of course there is no way Red believes this, until one night, her world is destroyed and she has no recollection of what happened, but her grandmother is dead, mauled by an unknown beast and Red is alone and afraid. What has happened? What demon from hell has been unleashed in her world? The answers may lie far closer to home than Red realizes.

Welcome to the dark side with Lana Axe as your guide, you will never look at Fairytales the same again. Although short, Ms. Axe manages to build a scare-worthy world of fantasy that is every bit as twisted as the original tale BEFORE it became a bedtime story! Who knows, that wolf you hear howling may be sitting next to you at breakfast!

Twelve-year old Ophelia recounts her journey from rags to riches to regret, set in motion by a serendipitous encounter with Samantha Raider over a violin. Sam, a strong-willed, talented seventeen-year-old dancer, seeks to break out of the bubble of privilege she has been trapped in since her mother was murdered and her father retreated into solitude.

She devises a plan to connect with others through generosity, relinquishing treasured items at a yard sale in exchange for the right to visit the objects at any time. As Ophelia’s mother and Sam’s father fall in love, Sam tangles herself in a web of danger stretching from Ophelia’s Bronx, New York neighborhood to the heart of the Darfurian genocide. After discovering she is armed with a unique weapon, Sam finds herself pitted against her mother’s killer and an entire army people who supports the genocide in Darfur, Africa.

Bond & Benevolence: Good Samaritan (Bond & Benevolence Series Book 1)My Review
Bond & Benevolence: Good Samaritan by J. C. Johnston

Told through the eyes of a young teen, trying to process things beyond her ability to reason, Bond & Benevolence by J. C. Johnston is a powerful and moving journey told at a pace that allows for thoughtful reflection as each scene goes by. Two girls struggle through a jungle of ugly truths, harsh realities, and the kindness in the hearts of truly unselfish people who try to make a difference in the world, one person at a time.

From two polar opposite worlds, Sam and Ophelia meet and begin what is a beautiful friendship much like two sisters, one caring for the other. At seventeen, Sam has only known a world of wealth and privilege, but losses in her life have caused her to look beyond herself and learn the importance of the world around her, and how one kind word or deed can make a difference. The younger Ophelia has known only poverty, the sounds of guns and sirens in the night and to be taken under Sam’s wing and being allowed into her world is like a fairytale come to life. When that fairytale begins to grow darker and scarier and the world once again threatens to become ugly, Sam’s spirit and resilience shines through once again as she takes her mission of caring on a global level that takes her to the nightmares of Darfur.

J. C. Johnston shows great heart in this tale of benevolence and charity, no matter what evil may lurk in the shadows. By allowing Ophelia to tell the story through her eyes, it becomes even more powerful, as no matter how mature a young teen is, their viewpoint is still different than that of an adult, there is more simplicity in her emotions as she sees the world through the eyes of youth. The pace and plot deepen as the story progresses and becomes a labyrinth of uncovered truths, and a deep dedication to making the world a better place.

Mr. Johnston has done a remarkable job bringing his story and characters to life with both a touch of realism and a lot of heart.

The trouble with humans is that they're far too sensitive. Forget you put a woman in the local jail for a few months--and she takes it so personally! And yet she is the one trying to assassinate the queen. And now I'm trapped with Elina Shestakova of the Black Bear Riders of the Midnight…gods! That endless name! But what am I to do? I am Celyn the Charming with direct orders from my queen to protect this unforgiving female.

Even more shocking, this unforgiving female is completely unimpressed by me. How is that even possible? But I know what I want and, for the moment, I want her. And I'm sure that she, like all females, will learn to adore me. How could she not when I am just so damn charming?

Light My Fire (Dragon Kin, #7)My Review:
Light My Fire by G.A. Aiken

Aiken’s brilliant and hysterical writing style shines through in Light My Fire.

Celyn the Charming was given one simple task…watch over the human that tried to assassinate the queen of the dragons. Locking her away in a cell was not what they had in mind, but forgetting about her for months on end was definitely not in the plan. Luckily the reluctant assassin, Elina was very resourceful.

When trouble comes from the south, the queen orders Celyn and Elina to work together to make an unlikely truce… Passion and dislike flows both ways between Celyn and Elina, creating quite an interesting make up. Will Celyn’s charm shine through or will Elina squash it before they discover what a formidable team they truly are?

Aiken is known for her highly complex plots and outrageously funny histrionics…I think Light My Fire might just take the level up a few notches. And I LOVED IT! I found myself laughing out loud and cheering on both Elina and Celyn.

The past character interaction was MARVELOUS! It brings the familiar back into this new storyline and kept me emotionally invested on every word. Yes, even though there is tons of funny, Aiken brilliantly sucks you into this magical world and makes you utterly invested in the plight of her characters.

I flat out love this series and this author, whether she writes as G.A. Aiken or Shelly Laurenston, I find her work masterfully written; giving you the perfect balance of humor and drama with a heavy dose of steamin' hot romance and action on the side.

I always have a serious book hang over when I finish one of Aiken's works...she leaves me wanting more every time.

I received this ARC copy of Light My Fire from Kensington Books - Zebra in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication November 25, 2014.

 Close AttentionMy Review
Close Attention by Steph Sweeney

Dark, edgy and emotionally chaotic, pretty much sums up Steph Sweeney’s Close Attention, the tale of a diverse group of teens in a very rural area, where you either get out and never come back, or stay and follow in the footsteps of your ancestors. Filled with teen angst, teen insecurities, the classic bully/bad guys, and the “privileged” basking in the power their parents wield, this rural setting also has the charm of a small community and its rustic closeness.

Adam is a gifted ball player. As a child he watched the new girl in town experience the cruelty of the old concession stand worker and that is the first time he came to her rescue. Eleven years later, they are still together, more out of habit than love. Then came the night of the big bonfire, where teens come from all around to party, drink and smoke, all while desperately grasping for a place in the teen community. It’s also the night his cousin, Hue needed him as never before, but Adam must decide to either become an accessory or a conscience to Hue. Whichever it is, their relationship will never be the same and the nightmare this night has become will forever scar Adam’s memories and change his life and his relationships forever.

Well! I have to say, Steph Sweeney took me by surprise, in a very good way! Close Attention is NOT a tale of a “Foot Loose” kind of place. There is evil, secrets and dark ambitions. There is also innocence, love and tenderness, all rolled into a realistic view of teens in need of more guidance, positive reinforcement and ambition. For some it was a journey to mediocrity, but for the main character, it was a coming of age as he came through the darkness and truly found himself and the person he wanted to be. Gritty, dark and far too realistic to be brushed off as a twisted tale, Ms. Sweeney had taken her bold strokes and created a wonderful read.

If you enjoy some dark and gritty action, teen growing pains, some mental instability and all of the confusion of being a teen, check this one out!
