First it was water.
Then blood.
And finally smoke.

Gwen Conway never knew there were so many ways to die. Honestly, it was something she would have been happy not knowing.

Maybe, they really are just dreams. Nightmares. But they won’t stop. And dreaming of her death is getting old. Then there’s the sleepwalking. She’d like to pass on that too.

Gwen’s pretty sure the dreams have something to do with her new job. Which of course, is definitely not just a ‘job.’

Don’t get her wrong, working for the Archiver of the Time Streams has its perks. Having the power to travel to any past or future time is fantastic. Plus, there’s Rafe, the ex-gladiator from the future. She’d like to keep him around too. Not that she would tell him that. It’d go straight to his head.

But she’s less than pleased to find herself in the middle of a time travelers’ war. Especially against a crazed half-god who has the power to obliterate the existence of any time or place. And the Guardians, her so called allies? All the help they offer is strict rules and smug superiority. Plus, they seem convinced she’s already lost, that she’s already died.

Gwen is starting to wonder whether she should have read her employment contract more carefully.

Mirrored Time (A Time Archivist Novel, #1)My Review
Mirrored Time by J. D. Faulkner

Time Travel with a few twists! Imagine being caught in the middle of a time travel war, being able to jump from one era to the next, one dimension to the next, BUT, history is just that, history, it’s carved in granite and the future, is that, too? Page One: Gwen needs a job, desperately, and she finds one with a man who seems to know her, somehow. Her job responsibilities, filing, phones and, oh yes, time travel. It would seem Gwen has the rare ability to travel through time. Headaches, nightmares and sleep walking seem to be haunting her now. Is it because of her new job? Her new ability? Or is there something evil out there threatening her very existence. Then we have the hot, brash time traveler, Rafe, who has some “timeless” chemistry going on with Gwen, but their relationship is sometimes volatile, mostly full of witty dialogue and definitely full of danger. Who is team good guy and who is team bad guy? Can Gwen be sure she is playing for the right team?

Mirrored Time by J.D. Faulkner has all of the elements of a riveting book, complete with wild twists, wonderful characters, great dialogue and a world that is solidly built! Ms. Faulkner stamps her own signature with confidence on this intriguing read, laying the ground rules, setting the scenes up and placing her characters in the exact place and time they need to be. She knows how to work in each detail flawlessly and is able to bring it all home with style!

I received this copy as part of the Mirrored Time Tour stopping at Tome Tender October 10, 2014.
