The Pastophori of Iset has set a trap for the Incarnate…only she doesn’t know it.

Burned out from being on the road again, a directionless Sunday finds herself inexplicably drawn to Salt Lake City. There she finds herself in a curious state. For the first time in her life, Sunday feels normal. She can walk around free of anxiety that she will be set-off by her inhuman sensitivity. She can be intimate without overheating. Are the days of the Incarnate finally behind her?

Cyrus has not handled losing Sunday well. For eight months, the werewolf has been a shadow of himself. His pack is concerned and his closest friend, Marcus, believes that Cyrus is in danger of being lost to his humanity. When their Alpha confesses that the Pastophori of Iset has set a trap for Sunday, Cyrus goes into full-gear trying to get her out of it…but he has to find her first.

Trail of Dead (Incarnate, #2)My Review
Trail of Dead by Cristy Rey

Once again, we are invited into Sunday’s world, as, alone, tired and sorely missing Cyrus, she is mysteriously drawn to Salt Lake City after having dreams that someone needs her protection. Mistakenly, she feels she is final free of the Pastophori, but is she? Will the power of arcane magic, entrap her, endangering the humans she now calls friends? The ley lines run thick and deep, limiting Sunday’s powers to protect hersrelf as she becomes a plaything for evil, against her wishes. Whee is Cyrus when she needs him? Why did she push him away when her heart wanted to cling to him?

Meanwhile, Cyrus is becoming almost tyrannical with his pack as he feels the pain of losing his mate. If not for the loyalty of his closest allies, Cyrus may go insane with grief. Will he ever find Sunday again?

Fierce battles, bloodshed and evil, it’s all in Trail of Dead by Cristy Rey as she spares nothing to pack her tale with everything from witches to werewolves, black magic and the innocence of unknowing humans at risk. Not for the faint of heart, these scenes feel real, they are dark and powerful as Ms. Rey takes beyond the mundane and into her world. Great characters, brave werewolves and evil villains, all want a piece of Sunday, but the only person she wants is Cyrus. Can he save her? Will he come?

I received this copy from the author in exchange for my honest review as part of a Review Tour stopping at Tome Tender October 20, 2014.
