Playing naughty or nice...

Fiona Wilder knows all about falling in lust. Love? That's another story. Determined not to repeat past mistakes, the single mom and cupcake shop owner is focused on walking the straight and narrow. But trouble has a way of finding her. And this time it comes in the form of a smoking hot firefighter who knows all the delicious ways to ignite her bad-girl fuse.

Can lead to heartbreak...

Firefighter Mike Halsey learned long ago that playing with fire just gets you burned. He's put his demons behind him, and if there's one line he won't cross, it's getting involved with his best friend's ex. But when fate throws him in the path of the beautiful, strong, and off-limits Fiona, will he be able to fight their attraction? Or will he willingly go down in flames?

Or a sweet surprise!

Sweet Surprise (Sweet, Texas, #4)My Review:
Sweet Surprise by Candis Terry

Sweet Surprise, Sweet, Texas, Sweet and utterly charming contemporary romance!

Fiona doesn’t want any romantic connections in her life. She is recently but very amicably divorced. Focusing on her new cupcake business and her daughter is all she wants to worry about, so why does a certain fireman keep popping into her head.

Mike is Fiona’s ex-husband’s best friend and fellow fireman and he can’t seem to get Fiona off his mind. Guy code requires him to stay clear of Fiona but something keeps pulling him in.

Sweet Surprise is a lively story of reluctant romance. Both Mike and Fiona have reasons to fight their sizzling romantic chemistry; the joy is watching them fail miserably in their fight.

I had one personal issue with this story. It was the explanation of Fiona’s failed marriage. I don’t buy into they love each other but they aren’t “in love”, it’s a total cop out excuse. Do I believe exs can remain friends, absolutely especially when a child is involved but seriously it had to be more than fell out of or was never “in love”.

What did I enjoy about Sweet Surprise? I really relished the love story. It was a perfect cozy read, by a warm fire. Heartwarming and Heartfelt! I especially loved the connection Mike builds with Fiona’s daughter as well as the past series characters coming back to play.

I recommend curling up with a nice cup of hot tea and taking a trip to Sweet, Texas!

I received this ARC copy of Sweet Surprise from Avon in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication January 27, 2014.
