Synopsis:

The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.

Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?

Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey.

A Curse Unbroken (Weird Girls, #5)My Review
A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson

One stone could change the balance of good and evil in the supernatural world, which means even humans are in grave danger. Is this stone like a magic lamp on steroids? Must the stone grant whatever wish the current holder has or is there a limit to the wishes granted? Time is running out to capture the stone from the holder, while Aric and Celia vow to find it, the each has their own method, and neither is pleased. After all they have been through, could they have become the prey to more evil? Will their love and insatiable desire for each other work against them? Everybody wants the stone, vampires, shifters, and witches will each take a run at possessing the stone, but is there a dark side to its power that should be avoided at all costs? What if it fell into the hands of humans?

All is not blissful between Aric and Celia, she is his fated mate, but will his pack ever completely trust her or will they always see her as weak or fragile as her own shifting powers can be erratic. Does Aric truly believe they are meant to be together, or is he feeling Celia will leave him?

Supernaturals that range from scary to quirky and humorous unless riled, Cecy Robson’s A Curse Unbroken is filled with one action-packed scene after another, whether that action is physical or emotional, there is little time to breathe between pages. Ms. Robson knows how to keep things fairly light, in spite of the edginess of this tale. There is heartbreak at times that seems overwhelming, confusion and bravery, but throughout, there is love between these characters that live on the dark side of the street. There is a realness to the emotional and physical sides of these characters that makes reading this as a spectator only, impossible!

I read this as a standalone, although it is part of a larger series and although I know I’ve missed something, I did not feel cheated, there were bits and pieces of background sprinkled throughout as the tension mounted and the love got just a touch hotter. Would I say read the entire series? Heck yes! I’m going to ! If you are looking to quiet that need for a paranormal read, this is a series to pick up!

I received an ARC edition from Loveswept in exchange for my honest review.
