Synopsis:

She once was important. Now she’s considered dangerous.

In a new America where almost no one can be trusted, Caroline lies unconscious in a government hospital as others decide her fate. She is a political dissident, wanted for questioning by a brutal regime that has come to power in a shockingly easy way. As she recovers from her injuries, all she has are her memories. And once she wakes up, they may not matter anymore.

Part One of a Six Part Series. Each part is a full length novel between 60,000-120,000 words and ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This saga contains adult situations, including non-gratuitous violence, explicit (consensual) sex, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes dark and gritty plot (particularly in part two).

Dissident (Bellator Saga, #1)My Review
Dissident by Cecilia London

We all have political opinions, some more radical than others, and in theory, our representatives are acting in our interest. Party division runs rampant and a new regime is always possible. What if that regime was brutal, crushing and in their quest to silence the dissidents, found a way to make them disappear? We all hear of conspiracy theories, but in Dissident by Cecilia London, it is happening, right now and former politico Caroline’s life is now in the hands of this regime. Kidnapped, beaten and near death, she relives her past with all of its moments of pain, love and beauty.

Page one, Caroline and her governor husband, Jack are in a dash for their lives, desperate to reach Canada with highly sensitive information, and, I’m all eyes, ears and emotion as their present plight begins its flashbacks to better times, political machinations and their budding, if unusual romance. She is a liberal, Jack is part of the wealthy conservatives. As their feelings deepen, ugly truths are revealed and they go through the usual rollercoaster of emotions, although on an adult level, between two very public figures. Ahh, the gossip mills of the most powerful seat of power in the world. Amazing as it seems, politicians are people, too...as evidenced by Caroline and Jack!

Meanwhile big things are happening all around them and the fate of the country is in as much turmoil as the fate of their relationship.

Cecilia London has one powerful and chaotic series breaking out of the gates at full speed! Is it a political suspense novel? Romantic suspense? Dystopian political romantic suspense? All I know is this is one riveting tale that packs a wallop as the shadowed and dark secrets are blown wide open and evil lurks on every corner, building and government office. Who can be trusted? Who is behind this? Who wants Caroline and Jack silenced forever? At no point could I see where this would end up and I must say, the ride to the finish and balancing on the edge of this cliff hanger is well worth the ticket to ride!

I received this copy from Cecilia London in exchange for my honest review.
