1550 BCE

Betrayed, murdered, and buried without proper ceremony, Egyptian warrior Periseneb is doomed to roam the gray deserts of the dead as a ghost for all eternity.

But then the goddess of truth offers him a bargain: return to the world of the living as her champion for 30 days. If he completes his mission, he’ll be guaranteed entry into Paradise. Periseneb agrees to the bargain but, when he returns to the living world, two hundred years have passed and nothing is quite as he expected.

Neithamun is a woman fighting to hang onto her family’s estate against an unscrupulous nobleman who desires the land as well as the lady. All seems lost until a mysterious yet appealing ex-soldier, Periseneb, appears out of nowhere to help her fight off the noble’s repeated attacks.

Meanwhile, Periseneb’s thirty days are rushing by, and he’s powerless against the growing attraction between himself and Neithamun. But their love can never be. For his Fate is to return to the Afterlife, and Death cannot wed with Life…

Ghost of the Nile by Veronica Scott (Gods of Egypt)

Ghost of the Nile (Gods of Egypt)Periseneb never planned on losing his heart to a living woman fighting to keep her freedom and land from the clutches of the evil nobleman determined to have both. Why has the goddess placed Persineb at this particular place and time? He has only thirty days to fulfill his promise and time is running out, but his heart cannot let Neithamun fall into the clutches of evil. What does the goddess Ma’at want from him? Is he to be tormented by suffering a love that can never be? He can give his strength and courage to save Neithamun, her land and her people, but he must harden the heart she is rapidly stealing from him.

Ghost of the Nile: Gods of Egypt by Veronica Scott is true romance set in an era when pharaohs ruled the land, religion and rituals were followed and the gods seemed to meddle at every opportunity. Ms. Scott writes with a confident hand, mixing facts of the time with the fantasy of the impossible romance she has created. There is honor in her main characters and true evil in her villains a she leads us back in time to another land and world far beyond our own.
High tension, deep emotional ties and dramatic scenes bring this tale to life as love unfolds and history is revisited. Well written, smooth-flowing, and filled with the mysteries of the gods, the pace is almost regal as we watch each scene play out. A wonderful way to escape for a few hours into a world and tale rich with detail.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
