Jenna's Journey by Julie Ryan
Sometimes a relationship has an expiration date. Jenna has finally seen that her husband has his own agenda and she is the afterthought. The always steady and predictable Jenny has decided she has had enough and step one is an impromptu trip to Greece, something no one would think her capable of. Life begins anew as she becomes engrossed in the Greek culture, the art and the people. Tom, a fellow traveler seems to be connected at her hip, but why? When she discovers a small souvenir shop with beautiful replicas of Greek art, she is gifted with a unique piece that could mean the death of her. This piece is not as it seems, it is part of a smugglers ring’s booty, but one mistake put it in her hands and people will die, unbeknownst to her.
When a handsome Greek man makes her feel alive and cherished, Jenna feels she has discovered true love, but is she just another tourist attraction for a native to play with? Will time reveal her true path? What will she find at the end of her dreams?
Julie Ryan’s Jenna’s Journey is at once, chaotic, and sometimes a rough road to follow. Is that representative of Jenna’s life? Julie Ryan gives us Jenna, a woman who has never taken the road less traveled and who has put herself on a twisted path on foreign soil, all in an effort to redeem her soul from the a marriage that has wounded her. Has she found true love or a dangerous mystery going on around her, as she remains clueless?
Ms. Ryan has written an amazingly twisted tale, part intrigue, part romance and part coming of age. With the cluster of characters involved sometimes it was hard to discern who would make the biggest impact or if they were a clever camouflage for the events going on behind the scenes. The pace is steady, the feeling dark and confused, but always Jenna is looking for a life of happiness denied her.
