Kree Michaels is an independent woman who has never truly experienced love. But when she begins to fall for Vincent D’Amore, a commanding underboss of the Italian Mafia, she finds herself thrust into excitement…and danger. Jewel Raquet, Vincent’s exotic on-again off-again girlfriend, is determined to push Kree away from Vincent at any cost. In order to be with Vincent, Kree will have to fight both Vincent’s past and her own reservations.

Boy-next-door Tom Fry offers Kree an alternative to the danger and drama of being with Vincent. With his quiet, gentle devotion to Kree, he seems as different from Vincent as it’s possible to be. But will Tom’s sweetness be enough to convince Kree to resist the allure of Vincent’s burning desire?

Note: This book contains mature content and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

White Lie by Peggy Dabney (The Consequences, #2)

White LieExperiencing true love for the first time and knowing the man is dangerous, powerful and lives in a deadly world, Kree is willing to risk it all, willingly. Vincent never thought he would find one woman to satisfy the emptiness in his soul, but he loves Kree too much to put her in danger and that is where she would be with him. Kree would be his Achilles Heel and a Mafia underboss can have no weaknesses.
Quiet, All-American, Tom Fry loves Kree and would do anything to have her, to keep her safe, be her rock, but how does the good guy win the girl when the bad boy has stolen her heart?

Peggy Dabney’s White Liecaptured me with its romantic intrigue, and held me captive until the very last page, when I finally remembered to breathe again. When Fate takes Vincent out of the picture, Tom is there for Kree and their lives together seem like the perfect fairytale, until a deadly monster form the past rears its ugly head and demands to be heard as he manipulates innocent lives like pawns on a chess board. The nightmare that unfolds chilled me to the bone as I white-knuckled my way through hell with these characters. So many secrets, so many lies, so much manipulation, how much can Kree take? Is this real or is she caught in a world where nothing and no one can be trusted to be real? Prepare to enter a world filled with sensual steam, deadly business arrangements and the feeling that reality is slipping away, exiting, might not be as easy, you may not want to just yet.

I received this copy from Peggy Dabney in exchange for my honest review.
