This novel is intended for adults only. It includes lots of cursing, descriptive sex, biting sarcasm, and dark themes. HYDE was inspired by Stevenson's novella but is not a retelling, in part because he and this author have very different definitions of 'bad boy'.

Honesty is impossible when you don't know the truth to begin with.

Mitchell Turner is everything women want most in a man--he's charismatic, successful, and undeniably gorgeous. But he's not a man--he's a monster. By venting his rage 24/7, Mitch keeps people out of the danger zone that surrounds him. But, after the most incredible night of his life, he realizes that might not be possible. Except the woman he wakes up with claims she doesn't remember any of it. And that kind of thing can make a guy insecure.

Eden Colfax is kind, loyal, honest to a fault, and cavity-inducing sweet. To rid herself of the monsters that haunted her broken childhood, Eden doesn't lie, doesn't curse, and definitely never wakes up naked in strangers' beds...until the day she does. Then the flashbacks start--places she's never been, people she's never met, blood she's never spilled. And the only person with any answers is a man she never wants to see again.

What they don't know is that someone is manipulating them, determined to find out exactly what they're capable of. And when the truth leaves them nothing to hold onto, they will be forced into a partnership neither expected. Or wanted.

But in life, who you trust is as important as who you are. And when you can't even trust yourself, sometimes the only person you can rely on is the last person on earth you should be falling for.

Hyde by Lauren Stewart (Hyde, #1)

Hyde (Hyde, #1)We all have to vent once in a while, not a pretty sight, but necessary. For Mitchell Turner it is the only way to keep his inner monster contained and people at a distance, in a “safety” zone, far from the clutches of his alter ego, Hyde.

Eden “sleepwalks,” or so she thinks, but what she does while out is beyond anything anyone could possibly do in their sleep. Her inner siren craves men, sex and all in excess. As Fate would have it, Mitchell and Eden’s worlds collide under the sheets with a raging inferno, but the morning after is a disaster when Eden claims not to remember a thing.

Together, they gain an uneasy truce as Eden’s pursuit of help from Mitchell takes them down a harrowing path of lifelong deceptions, death and the realization that they are not alone. Follow their dark paths down wicked twists and the machinations of others to control them like puppets in a macabre play.

Lauren Stewart has built a dark world, a world on the edge of jagged and torn where evil lurks as an unknown entity incites their inner beasts and two people attempt to tame them by any means possible, including love. Hyde is NOT the tale one remembers form long ago, it is a tale of darkness, blood and a budding romance between two people who know what Hell is, what betrayal is and what the loss of lives can do to a soul. Ms. Stewart is an excellent storyteller, with pacing that matches each scene, scenes that graphically come to life and an air of mystery surrounding it all. Part horror show, part romance, mystery and dark fantasy, there is a depth to this tale that Lauren Stewart has the talent to present with bold writing.
