letmejustsaythis_cover
Today is the first day of B. Swangin Webster's blog tour for her book, Let Me Just Say This, book one of this series. This author debuted in the summer of 2014 and followed up with book two, Let Me Say This, Again in the spring of 2015. One thing for sure, she is prolific!! During our interview, I learned a lot about this author but wanted to do something different and fun for you on this inaugural day and condensed our talk. I wanted to find out five things about this author that could not be found anywhere else! So, before I get into my review of her book, the book's synopsis, or share the giveaway raffle of 5 of her books and a $20 Amazon gift card, here is a little teaser about this funny, slightly outrageous author.

Cheryl Goldman is a stay-at-home mother of two: a boy, and a girl. Her husband, Kevin, is a successful businessman who owns his own marketing firm. From the outside, all looks perfect. Too perfect, perhaps. When we scratch the surface, we find Cheryl wearing too much makeup on some days and rather overlarge shades that make her look every bit the fierce diva. Yet, she's not. Cheryl allows the unthinkable to happen more and more in her life. Her children watch her. Her BFF watches her. Her parents watch her. Yet, no one steps in...not even Cheryl speaks up for herself. Her daughter is disgusted. Her son is angry at both of his parents. Her father knows Cheryl's not trying to make any waves. Cheryl's mother? Thinks the world rises and sets on Kevin. Will Cheryl wake up and realize she shouldn't be the object of abuse because someone else is having a rough go of it? Will her children forgive her? Or, simply walk away from it all? Go behind the scenes of this upper middle-class African-American successful family and see how the foundation of things was set and how it all slowly unraveled.

We raise our daughters to respect themselves, to never allow themselves to be abused or to be the abuser in any manner. What happens when love comes into the equation, when the man you have vowed to love and cherish forever becomes an abuser? How much damage is done to a woman until she questions herself and finds herself lacking? Let Me Just Say This by B. Swangin Webster is an intense and painful journey one woman takes to re-discover her own self-respect and self-worth.

To the outside world, Cheryl had an idyllic marriage, but what went on behind closed doors tells of the nightmares of both physical and mental abuse at the hands of her husband while hiding the truth from the world and herself. Follow Cheryl as she fights her way through the truths, lies and devastation she endured. Will she come out a stronger, whole woman or will her shattered pieces be impossible to glue back together?

B. Swangin Webster writes with a powerful hand, taking on a subject that is both disturbing and far more common than we would like to believe. Ms. Webster adds the chaos, the realism and stark rawness of living the nightmare of abuse and gives voice as an advocate to all women, regardless of race or circumstance. Highly recommended as a thought provoking read that enlightens as it entertains as a well-written, if horrific tale that is far too easy to pretend is an isolated instance.
