Beyond Redemption (Marked Series #2) by Lady J.

Beyond Redemption (Marked Series #2)How is a hideous henchman, an artisan of torture and a cold-blooded killer made? For Giddeon Cane, he was only six years old the day his life changed forever. The little boy so loved by his parents was now an orphan and witness to their heinous murders. The most torturous memory was actually his own brand of PTSD that would follow him through the dark life he has led. He tortures himself with the thought that he did nothing, he stood there, even as one of the monsters handed him a gift, the bloody knife that killed his mother, he just stood, frozen. From then on, he was determined to never love or be loved again and he vowed that one day he would get his revenge.

There is something off about his latest assignment. His twisted “boss” is determined to “own” a beautiful young woman at any cost. He has been stalking and terrorizing Ellora, until she ran to Sky, Scotland in an attempt to start over and stay under the radar of Giddeon’s knife.

Then came the day he would have his chance to finish his assignment, until fate and an enraged bear of a man took him down. From that day forward, Giddeon, the man Beyond Redemption was given a second chance at life and revenge until he looked into the eyes of angel who awakened a feeling he thought long dead, love.

How often do we get to read about the villain, his life story, his pain, his regrets and how he was deceived? How often are we asked to see a murderer in the role of a sort of hero of the story? Lady J. has raised her own bar as she broadens the scope of her book Forever Marked to include stories from both the previous heroine and her personal nightmare, the hired villain. Giddeon also appears to be the victim of the vile and powerful man behind both his and Ellora’s miseries. I have never felt so much pain, guilt and hatred coming from one man so need of love and human comfort long denied him. Deep, powerful and definitely eye-opening, one can’t help but hope this killer has his chance at redemption through the love of a woman. An excellent drama, highly recommended.

I received this copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
