Emma Lovett leaves her philandering husband and crosses the country to begin her teaching career at a high school in Pinewood, Colorado. There, she meets Leslie Parker, a fellow teacher given to quoting Shakespeare to fit all situations, and the two become fast friends.

Arriving at work early one morning, Emma discovers the body of the school custodian, a man who reminds her of her late father. When the police struggle to find the killer, the ladies decide to help solve the murder. Their efforts lead them to a myriad of suspects: the schizophrenic librarian, the crude football coach, the mysterious social studies teacher, and even Emma’s new love interest.

As Emma Lovett discovers the perils of teaching high school, she and Leslie learn more than they ever wanted to know about the reasons people kill.

Death by Diploma by Kelley Kaye (Chalkboard Outlines#1)

Death by Diploma (Chalkboard Outlines, #1)Grab your notebook and pen, we’re headed back to high school to meet the new teacher, Emma Lovett, as she digs deep to discover who killed the kindly school custodian and why. They say being a high school teacher can be a daunting job, but for Emma, dealing with her students proves to be nothing compared to going on the hunt for a murderer with her new friend and sidekick, fellow teacher Leslie Parker.

While trading Shakespearean quotes, Emma and Leslie uncover more suspects than you can shake a stick at and now they must use the clues they have to narrow the growing field. Was it the skateboard riding principal? The schizophrenic librarian? (For that matter which of the librarian’s personalities could have done it?) The list just keeps on growing…

Does laughing at murder and its ensuing investigation make me a sick puppy? I dare you NOT to have a couple of chuckles reading Death by Diploma by Kelley Kaye. It is a clever who dunnit that is filled with delightful characters full of quirky sass and uncanny gifts of deduction. Ms. Kaye has her own quirky slant on murder that will take you on a twisted path to the murderer as you scratch your head knowing you didn’t see that one coming.

I received this copy from Kelley Kaye in exchange for my honest review.
