Catalia "Cat" Fisa is a powerful clairvoyant known as the Kingmaker. This smart-mouthed soothsayer has no interest in her powers and would much rather fly under the radar, far from the clutches of her homicidal mother. But when an ambitious warlord captures her, she may not have a choice…

Griffin is intent on bringing peace to his newly conquered realm in the magic-deprived south. When he discovers Cat is the Kingmaker, he abducts her. But Cat will do everything in her power to avoid her dangerous destiny and battle her captor at every turn. Although up for the battle, Griffin would prefer for Cat to help his people willingly, and he's ready to do whatever it takes to coax her…even if that means falling in love with her.

A Promise of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #1)A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet

I flat out love it.

I fell in love instantly with the mythology, god based world and found myself captured to the end.

You know when your reading a book and the WOW factor just strikes, A Promise of Fire is just such a book.

Captured by a warlord, Griffin, while hiding in plain site as a circus performer, Cat finds herself thrust back into a world of power, greed and magic. Her abilities are amazing but her blood could be her downfall.

Making many friends and some enemies along the way, anyone in the bid for power would see Cat as a threat or a huge assesst.

The last thing she wants is for her psychotic mother will find her.

There was not one thing I didn’t like about A Promise of Fire, unless you count it ended to soon. The characters and world are well developed but not over described, the plot was vivid and amazingly conceived with twist and turns that kept you enthralled and the sexual tension that develops between Griffin and Cat…makes you want to read on and on.

This one is going on my favorite shelf.

I received this ARC copy of A Promise of Fire from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication August 2, 2016.
