Police officer Mia Donovan is studying for the detective's exam when her captain offers her an assignment – be Finn O'Rourke's personal bodyguard for the next three weeks. He's in town to film a movie, he has a stalker, and the threats are escalating.

Mia isn't interested – she's focused on the looming exam. But her captain convinces her that successfully protecting Finn will look very good on her record when promotion decisions are made. So, reluctantly, she takes the assignment.

Finn isn't the arrogant, egotistical actor Mia expected. There's more than meets the eye when it comes to the 'most hated man in America', Finn's nickname since he cheated on his girlfriend, a beloved pop star.

But his stalker is lurking and the threat is escalating. Although Mia's feelings for Finn are growing, her job is to protect Finn, not fall in love with him.

Protect Me (The Donovan Family #6) by Margaret Watson

Protect Me (The Donovan Family, #6)She was given an offer she couldn’t refuse, not if she wanted to make detective on the Chicago police force. At first it seemed like babysitting, being an undercover protector of a fluffy, no-substance movie star, but Mia knows she is a capable officer, in spite of what her older brothers, of the Donovan family of law enforcement officers think. What the beautiful and very competent Mia found was Finn, a down-to-earth, caring hunk of gorgeousness whose stardom has been tarnished by an old scandal.

Finn has been receiving threats and they are escalating, someone wants him or wants him dead. He just happens to be the superintendent’s Godson. With both her hopes and reputation on the line and under the microscope, Mia is determined to keep her assignment alive, even if he can be his own worst enemy. But did she have to play his elbow dressing to do it? Did she have to move in with him? Did he have to give off those sexy vibes?

As the threat to Finn escalates, so does the “non-romance” and Mia finds herself caught between duty and libido, which was bad enough, but then her heart got involved. This three week assignment just became three weeks of a total eclipse of her heart, especially when Finn unveils his true self and not the personae his fans see.

Brilliant dialogue, attitude and chemistry on steroids, Margaret Watson’s Protect Me is a beautiful twist on the whole big, bad, alpha protector thing as one amazing woman with beauty and brains takes on an unknown stalker to save the hot actor who may have stolen her heart.
Ms. Watson has done a remarkable job of telling a tale with humor, heart and heat!

I received this copy from Margaret Watson in exchange for my honest review.
