Somewhere on St. Thomas by Toby Neal
Anyone who loves a strong, yet innocent female lead who becomes confused by what “love” is versus what having sex is, is going to love Ruby. She is more na├»ve than she will admit, having spent her life on St Thomas where surfers and sailors came and went while she was searching for a man that could take her away from the provincial life she had led. She wasn’t expecting the handsome crew member of a private ship to catch her eye and make her heart race. Too bad he would never be more than a man just getting by. Ruby wants more, she wants the dream life starring her as a successful attorney and her husband as a man as comfortable in a business suit as he is lounging by her dream pool with their dream children. Yet, Ruby is unwilling to forget about Rafe.

Off to college on a scholarship, she finds the hustle and bustle of Boston exhilarating, and her roommate and new best friend is more than willing to introduce Ruby to the lifestyle of the wealthy. Life away from St Thomas and her family was an adventure, as she tested the dating waters and found two other young men who each had a huge appeal in her search for someone to give herself to. In the end, the heart knows what the heart wants and in spite of her visions for her future, there is only one man for her.

Welcome to Toby Neal’s Somewhere on St. Thomas where love can be sweet and powerful and one young woman is strong enough to want to see the world on her terms before committing to her forever love. To be honest, Ruby made many mistakes while “coming of age.” There were times I wasn’t sure how I felt about her until I realized that she was learning from her mistakes in the romance arena and it made her all the more realistically human! Filled with characters that were fun, far more patient than I and sense that were detailed just enough to get the feeling of where we were, the changes of POV were a wonderful idea that fleshed out this tale to perfection. Ms. Neal ‘s style brings love and great reading together and that makes me smile!

I received this copy from Toby Neal in exchange for my honest review.
