Where secrets make their home…

Stopping to help a motorist in trouble, Katie Lynch stumbles upon a mystery as elusive as the Mothman legend that haunts her hometown of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Could the coded message she finds herald an extraterrestrial visitor? According to locals, it wouldn’t be the first time. And what sense should she make of her young son’s sudden spate of bizarre drawings—and his claim of a late-night visitation? Determined to uncover the truth, Katie only breaks the surface when a new threat erupts. Suddenly her long-gone ex-boyfriend is back and it’s as if he’s under someone else’s control. Not only is he half-crazed, he’s intent on murder….

As a sergeant in the sheriff’s office of the famously uncanny Point Pleasant, Officer Ryan Flynn has learned to tolerate reports of puzzling paranormal events.   But single mom Katie Lynch appears to be in very real danger—and somehow Ryan’s own brother, Caden, is caught up in the madness, too. What the skeptical lawman discovers astounds him—and sends him into action. For stopping whatever evil forces are at play may just keep Katie and Caden alive….

A Cold Tomorrow by Mae Clair (Point Pleasant, #2)

A Cold Tomorrow (Point Pleasant, #2)Enter with caution, Mae Clair is taking us back to Point Pleasant, WV, home of the Mothman legends, strange happenings and aliens who hide in plain sight. Prepare to believe in the unbelievable in Ms. Clair’s latest suspense-filled tale, A COLD TOMORROW where “Cold” is more than a feeling or a word spelled out on a Ouija board, but what it is, is one of the mysteries veiled in the dark shadows of Point Pleasant.

All Katie was trying to do was help a stranded motorist, but somewhere between opening her car door and the arrival of a mysterious law enforcement officer, it is as if she has entered another dimension where danger is real, aliens may or may not have been sighted, AGAIN and an ex-boyfriend is acting like a brainwashed extra in a plot where M stands for murder and Katie’s life is in danger.

Can Officer Ryan Flynn help keep Katie safe? Will he discover that the deadly bridge event from years back plays a huge role in the mysteries of today? His brother Caden may be the key to unearthing what is going on, and the elusive Mothman will play a significant part as his origins are uncovered and he has one last chance to go home to the world he came from. Will he take that chance or does Fate have other plans?

Mae Clair is a master of mystery and suspense with a touch of the unknown as she pulls back the shrouds of intrigue and ares us to go on, not knowing what to expect on the next page. Brilliant plotting, with an eerie atmosphere, characters with guts while being a little foolhardy at times and a shocking reveal you won’t see coming! Turn on all the lights, stay out of the shadows and please, stay inside because you never know what lurks in the darkness or if they mean you harm or worse...

I received an ARC edition from Mae Clair and Lyrical Underground in exchange for my honest review.
