Claire's House by Linda Heavner Gerald

Claire's House: Spooky Louisiana TalesEver look at an older home and think, “…If the walls could talk…what would they say?” Be one of the few privileged people who know what this legendary historical home would say. Enter CLAIRE’S HOUSE and follow its life, loves and hates through generations of homeowners, loving care, gross neglect and discover who it loved best, who it learned to love and who it helped nurture in its own special way. Far from a tale of horror, this is a tale of time, joy, sorrow and what the walls WOULD say if they could talk. From page one, Linda Heavner Gerald will capture your imagination, peak your interest and awaken your mind to a truly wonderful read!

House loved the family who built it with love in the early nineteenth century. The lady of the house was gracious, warm and loving. It was to her children that House first revealed itself as an entity. They all loved house, but one day they went away and never returned. House did not understand until later that they were killed in an accident, and it never forgot.

Families came and went, some House did all it could to scare off, some it did all it could to let the owners know it loved them, but no one came close to the original owner and the mansion’s namesake, Claire, until Savannah came along. Together House and Savannah morphed from tired and used up to vibrant and colorful beings with a love of learning, growing and becoming the best they could be. They learned to live again, together, to find joy, but no one and nothing lives forever, but the story of CLAIRE’S HOUSE has become something folklore thrives on.

I tip my bookmark to Linda Heavner Gerald, a very talented author who has proved once again that she knows charismatic storytelling that feeds one’s imagination with rich descriptions, characters that almost float through the pages and an old antebellum mansion that will burrow into your heart. There is no fast-paced action, this tale glides through each gentle twist and the ever-changing turns of time. Very highly recommended and another sparkling gem to be dazzled by!
