Have you ever craved something so badly that all reason was just an excuse getting in your way?

Have you needed something so desperately that you didn’t care how you got it or who you hurt in the process?

I have—and not that long ago.

Acceptance… from family and friends…

Acceptance of the person I am inside and not outright rejection.

It didn’t come easily for me, and now I believe the world needs to know just how ruthless life can be. How that overwhelming yearning for acceptance can mold you into someone you don’t recognize when you look in the mirror. I’m through hiding behind one fa├žade after another—it’s time for the world to meet the real me.

~Antoinette Justice

Revelations by T. Marie Alexander

RevelationsShe never seemed to fit in anywhere, except maybe in her grandma’s arms. Her mother was a married man’s mistress and everyone knew both she and her sister were the results of a very long affair. When her father’s wife died, the three of them went to live in his upscale neighborhood and begin what should have been a fairy tale life of privilege, wealth, private schools and new friends who wouldn’t know her past. She would no longer be the outcast, the bullied or the shunned.

Antoinette was determined to start over, to fit in and to make the right impression, but once again, she is an outcast, they know her story and life is a living hell, as even at home she was made to feel like no matter what she did, she was not good enough. Would she ever find peace of mind or joy or even love? What was so wrong with her that no one seemed to accept her, not even her parents?

Acceptance, it was all Anna wanted, but she was the square peg trying to fit in the round hole and she had no idea why. This is her story, a painful and heartbreaking journey told through her own voice through her journal. It is a story of bullying, of depression, of wanting to die, of wanting to live and show the world she was strong. It is the story of the ugliness of humanity, the cruelty of family and the lack of a place to land for shelter and safety, of making bad choices in a desperate attempt to find anything close to being love. It is pinning one’s hopes on someone who is off limits.

T. Marie Alexander made my eyes fill with tears of sadness, indignation and pure outrage that any child should feel alone and unloved or to be judged by others for circumstances beyond her control. REVELATIONS is an indictment of what today’s world has become and the lack of compassion that can spread like wildfire on a hot and windy day. An older young adult book that belongs front and center to be read by ALL.

Ms. Alexander has condensed years of pain into just a few pages and given Anna the strength to keep trying, even against the worst of circumstances, not all teens have that inner strength and surely it warps their prospective on what life, love and humanity should be. Extremely powerful, deeply emotional and painfully told, this is a must read, no matter how difficult.

All I can say is, if you do NOT read this one, you are missing heartfelt and beautiful writing!

I received an ARC edition from T. Marie Alexander in exchange for my honest review.
