Much can happen in ten years. People change. Life occurs; death ensues. Secrets are kept; truth prevails.

A decade has passed since Callie and Jamie exchanged goodbyes. At the time, they didn’t realize it might be their final exchange, and they’d disappear from each other’s lives. But that’s exactly what happened. Now, Callie finds herself at a crossroads. Caught between her current life and the longing for her past, she must decide what is best for her.

Jamie has worked hard to make something of himself — to prove his father wrong. Life as an Army Ranger isn’t easy, but it’s who he is down to his core. When everything starts to crumble, he receives news from home that makes him think about his life. Earlier, he vowed never to set foot in Gulf City again. Now, there's no reason he can’t go home.

Except there is... And her name is California McCoy.

We Thought We Knew It All by Michelle Lynn (Invincible, #2)

We Thought We Knew It All (Invincible Book 2)Does time heal all wounds? Ten years have passed since the nightmare at their high school, the day they lost their innocence to the horrors that life can contain. Callie and Jamie said goodbye to each other, was it meant to be forever? Life, insecurities, war and a failed marriage that produced three wonderful children have changed both Callie and Jamie, but death has brought them back together and they must face the truth about why they didn’t make it all those years ago.

Callie has changed her dreams, is raising her young boys and has separated from her self-confident, sometimes overbearing husband. She is a published author, but it was to purge her demons and celebrate the strength of her mother, the woman who ran away from the world she held in the palm of her hand to the world of happiness she left behind.

When Jamie showed up at the funeral for his abusive father after being just “gone’ for all those years, he is a changed man, still insecure, but a true hero as a Ranger who has face down war and survived. His first impulse is to run to Callie as the years faded away but the headstrong girl has become a self-assured and confident woman with responsibilities and a plan for her future. Was there any room for him in it?

True love never dies, but lies and secrets exposed in anger can cut too deeply to overlook. Do Callie and Jamie stand a chance when the world seems destined to keep them apart?

Michelle Lynn continues the story from her amazing tale, We Thought We Were Invincible as she fast forwards one decade and two lifetimes into the future as Fate brings two souls back together to bring closure and honesty to the life they left behind. Soul-wrenching, heartbreaking, uplifting and enlightening, theirs is a love story for the ages. WE THOUGHT WE KNEW IT ALL proves that no matter how old we get, we still have so much to learn.

I absolutely loved book one, but book two completely blew me away. I felt what the characters felt, saw what they saw through their eyes, and understood all they had been through. Michelle Lynn knows how to grab her readers by the heart and pull them into each page as if they were part of the story. Read book one and then do NOT miss book two!

I received an ARC edition from Michelle Lynn in exchange for my honest review.
