Dearest Saba,

You cannot know how proud you make me, how fierce you’ve become in your transformation. You are the one to raise men, to create the world I have quit. This narrative is only a snippet, your beginning, the impetus that set you on this course. But you must see it for what it is, too, a testament to whom you have become since. I may have fallen away, but I’m not gone from our world. Our forefather has seen to that, and in my place he shall stand. Honor him as you have done me. Love him as you have loved me. Be the daughter to him you have been to me, one no father can deny.

Don’t be surprised at the knowledge I’ve acquired, the things I’ve uncovered here, words and deeds I’ve recounted. As a mortal, as the first descendant of man, I was not privy to omniscience, but now …

My change brings many insights, gifts from beyond. As my eyes were opened, so too were the paths to other worlds. Know this, my daughter, you are and always will be a goddess, a being knit from celestial thread, forged in the fires of other spheres, equipped with a grace too great for mortal material. So, too, are you as they said. You are His. You now belong to Vincent Du Maurier.

Grief For Heart (The Journal of Vincent du Maurier #4)Have you ever wanted to say so much about a book and its author and then find you just do not know where to start?

Dark, brooding and almost dreamlike, K.P. Ambroziak’s GRIEF FOR HEART is a tale of awakening, of realizing the role one woman will play as her bloodline, her ancestors, as those around her stop at nothing to keep her safe so she may fulfill her destiny. Saba is more than herself, she is a vessel for the past to come through, the present to witness and the future to rely on. Someone is coming for her after his deep and torturous imprisonment. He is vampire and his thirst must be sated.

Saba was an adventurer, a hunter, a free spirit. The world calls to her, unlike the other women of her family and she is bound to heed the call, but is it really the call of Vincent Du Maurier, the first of their kind?
Bound to Peter through the blood initiation, Saba was in love with the ancient vampire, but was he meant to be hers forever or would she become another pawn for Vincent? As Saba’s father lays dying, the colony archivist wants nothing more than to see his daughter cared for, as even Evelina cannot save him from his mortal end. He bades her to make their “forefather” proud…and so Saba’s story begins…her destiny, her fate, her role in the world will be defined, is she ready? Does she understand?

K.P. Ambroziak doesn’t follow a linear path from start to finish, she incorporates many characters, many subplots and simultaneous scenes that feed the chaos of a world of fantasy, darkness and blood. Follow the family tree that goes far into the past, read of their stories, and relish the independence of Saba, as she struggles between her re-birth and the life that has been carved out for her to discover.

Savor each page, follow each character’s story, and feel the web of connections woven into time. Pay close attention, let go of the “real” world and embrace the magic of K.P. Ambroziak’s prose. A fabulously dark tale of vampires and those they possess.

I received an ARC edition from K.P. Ambroziak in exchange for my honest review.
