Do your past mistakes define you forever?

Cruz Zaffino leaves prison after a serving a decade for a crime he didn’t commit. With his life all over the internet, there’s nowhere he can go to avoid his illicit past. Involved with one of Chicago’s toughest gangs, he made enemies bent on ruining everything he has. Nowhere is beyond their reach.

Every day, Rosie Marlow lives with the scars from the worst mistake of her life. It’s the one secret she has in her tiny, gossip-fueled town. When Cruz walks into her bar, covered in tattoos and dangerous attitude, she’s captivated. His rough sexuality makes her melt, and his harsh experience calls to her own broken soul. But her story is private and buried so deep, she’s never had the strength to share it.

She’s the unexpected light to his darkness, yet he knows she’s hiding something. Sultry summer nights in each other’s arms weaken her resistance and taunt her with the idea of forever. But as his adversaries draw close, can she love him enough to let him go?

Record of Wrongs by Sharon Kay (Redemption County, #1)

Record of Wrongs (Redemption County #1)Without a doubt, Cruz Zaffino was a very bad boy, but ten years in prison for the trigger he never pulled couldn’t be erased when his conviction was overturned and the new life he wanted to make wouldn’t be easy. All he wanted was to be left alone, to blend into the small town he ran to for his life do-over. He had no idea he would find more than he could ever deserve, a feisty ray of sunshine in cowboy boots.

Her small town gossip mill knows all of Rosie’s darkest mistakes, all but one and she has vowed they will never find out. When Mr. Tall, Dark and Dangerous walks into the bar, little did Rosie know this brooding and tattooed male would become her knight in tarnished armor or that his own scars of the past may give her the strength she needs to face her own.

When the past comes roaring back, all they are learning to share may be lost in the blink of an eye.
Oh, yes, Sharon Kay’s RECORD OF WRONGS has perfectly flawed characters that will sear a place in your heart with their pasts, scorch your fantasies with their present and make you melt with their tentative and teasing attraction to each other. Ms. Kay manages to bring real people to life, not just characters as she deftly draws their souls, their thoughts and their hearts with her words. Enjoy the light-hearted banter, a slower “country-pace” and even a county fair as two strangers struggle to let go of their pasts and look to the future. All under the scrutiny of a small town that stands by its own...all they had to do was ask the dog.

I received an ARC edition from Sharon Kay in exchange for my honest review.
