Title: Forever in Good Hope

Author: Cindy Kirk

Release Date: August 15, 2017
Publisher: Montlake Romance

Delphinium “Fin” Bloom returns to her hometown with one goal: get the mayor—her former flame—to approve a location shoot in Good Hope. But business turns personal when the two become entangled in a fake engagement to comfort his ailing grandmother.

For Jeremy, the romantic fa├žade hits close to his heart. Still reeling from the way things ended between Fin and him all those years ago, he sees the fake engagement as an opportunity to get her out of his system once and for all. But instead of laying the past to rest, Jeremy quickly discovers he can’t envision a life without her.

Now engaged to another man, Fin had long ago given up on the dream of a life with Jeremy. Why is it, then, that her fake engagement feels more genuine than her real one? As the sleepy days of summer come to a close in Good Hope, will Fin and Jeremy give love a second chance? Or will the revelation of a devastating secret put an end to the fairy tale?

Exclusive Interview: Cindy Kirk

Your series Good Hope takes place in a small town in the Wisconsin. Is there anything inherently romantic about your setting?

The Door County peninsula—where I placed Good Hope—has something for everyone. There are hiking and biking trails, live music festivals, and gorgeous sunset views. It is a place where a person can unplug, relax and recharge. A place where a couple can be reminded of what really matters in life.

Your books have followed four sisters -- Fin, Prim, Marigold and Ami. Which sister do you have the most in common with? Which one the least?

I’ve always said in order to know me, all you need to do is read my books.

You can see parts of me in each Bloom sister. Amaryllis (Ami) is the sister who stayed in the community where she grew up, who loves running into friends on the street. I’m like Ami in that I still live in the community where I grew up. Primrose (Prim) is a woman who loves her twin boys and puts their welfare first. Although I only have one daughter, giving her my time and attention growing up was a great joy rather than a burden. Marigold wants to prove herself, to see how far she can go. I identify with her in that I am also competitive and driven to do my best. Delphinium (Fin) is fiercely loyal to her sisters and also one who finds it difficult to share her burdens. While I don’t have any sisters, I am very loyal to my friends and those I love.

Your latest release, Forever in Good Hope, brings Fin back to her hometown and into the arms of her first love Jeremy. What is it about a second-chance romance that appeals to you?

I’m a great believer that sometimes a relationship doesn’t happen because it’s not the right time or the couple needs to grow and learn something before they can successfully be together. Everything that happens in our life changes us (to some degree). I think if Fin and Jeremy had gotten together all those years ago, neither would have achieved their full potential. More importantly, their relationship wouldn’t have been as strong as it is now.

What is Fin’s first reaction when reuniting with Jeremy? What are Jeremy’s first thoughts about Fin’s return?

Fin is a strong woman with strong ideas. She’s disturbed by the fact that she’s still attracted to Jeremy. She’d convinced herself she’d moved on, but we know she hasn’t. Jeremy is more self-aware and realizes he’d never fully gotten over her. He’s convinced spending more time with her will help get her out of his system for good. All I can say to that is: foolish, foolish man.

Because of a situation beyond their control, Jeremy and Fin are thrown into a fake engagement. How does this come about?

The fake engagement comes about because both Fin and Jeremy care about his Grandma Ruby. The love they share for this strong, feisty woman has them willing to make the temporary sacrifice of pretending to be engaged.

Can you tell us about a moment when they first become “engaged” where one of your characters wishes it were real?

When two people who deep down have never stopped loving each other are put in a situation where they’re together and viewed as a couple, there are many, many times when the farce seems all too real.

Readers always love returning to long running series in order to meet back up with old friends from previous books. Can you give us a (tiny) spoiler about a previous couple from the story? (Maybe the pitter patter of tiny feet?)

Catching up with “old friends” is one of the wonderful things about the Good Hope series. In this book, Ami and Beck welcome their firstborn and Prim and Max make an announcement that has everyone cheering.

Now that the sisters have their happy-ever-afters, what can readers expect next from you?

The sisters may have their happily-ever-afters but three of their good friends are still looking for love. Up next will be Eliza Shaw in Say I Do in Good Hope followed by Hadley in Marry Me in Good Hope. Last, but definitely not least, the series will wrap up in 2018 with Lindsay’s book, Tie the Knot in Good Hope.

Author Biography
Cindy Kirk started writing after taking a class at a local community college. But her interest in the written word began years earlier when she was in her teens. At sixteen, she wrote in her diary: “I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t be a writer.” When she returned to her first love—writing—she jumped feetfirst into book-length fiction. She loves reading and writing romance because she believes in the power of love and in happily ever after. An incurable romantic and an eternal optimist, Kirk loves seeing her characters grow and learn from their mistakes and, in the process, achieve a happy ending through the power of love. She and her high-school-sweetheart husband live in Nebraska with their two dogs.
