The fight with the Vikings may have been successful, but there is no rest for the wicked – and Freya is about to find out just how wicked they can be.

Merely weeks after the victory with Cadmael, the young Sage is recovering in Scotland by day, and playing with newfound powers by night. The fun cuts off abruptly when Sam returns with worrying news of a conquistador rallying all the ghosts of Spain in the thousands, and Seamus calls Brennan to help on the new mission.

This time, there is more at stake than the fate of the world. Evil awaits galore, safely hidden in the confines of the old city. As they battle attacks from all sides, and hopelessly try to rescue one of their own, Freya and Brennan will have to work together more than ever before. Their pasts will become more intertwined than their futures.

And through it all, the dragon manuscript will guide them to survive…or bring them to their doom.

The Dragon Manuscript by Alexa Whitewolf
(The Sage's Legacy, #2)

The Dragon Manuscript (The Sage's Legacy #2)Freya and Brennan still struggle with mutual trust issues, mostly on the part of Freya, who continues to be short-tempered, bossy and headstrong. As each of their powers grow, their common bond, being two halves of a prophecy seems to begin to break Freya’s walls down and she begins to take time to enjoy being a teen with Brennan, but even their brief moments of light-hearted fun will be overshadowed when the manuscript seems to beckon them with its powers.

The Vikings may have been vanquished, but now more evil, far worse, has zeroed in on this dynamic duo and the stakes are higher than ever before. Will a scorned and jealous god take aim at the secrets they hold? What about the conquistador ghosts amassing their numbers in the thousands to take a run at these two magical and powerful teens?

Their strength lies in trust, trusting in their own abilities and each other, key to their success. Trust must be earned and Freya will need to take a leap of faith to rely on the powerful wiseman who seems to get under her skin like an irritating tick.

Meanwhile, evil has infiltrated their ranks and seems to be one step ahead of them at every turn. Have they been betrayed by one of their own? There is never a dull moment as Freya and Brennan find that for now, life is not going to get any easier, but it will become doubly dangerous.

THE DRAGON MANUSCRIPT by Alexa Whitewolf takes us on another tension-filled journey with Freya and Brennan as we witness a coming of age in both of them, shouldering the weight of the world on their shoulders. Powerful enemies, overwhelming odds and the prophecy’s fulfillment all teeter in the balance, as once again, these unlikely allies must learn to trust in each other for strength and balance.

I absolutely love this series! These teens come across like kids you may see walking down the street in the way they interact. Brennan seems to know just how to get to Freya, yet, one feels like there is something more going on beneath the surface, almost like an awkward and highly unlikely young romance. If the pages aren’t teeming with action, they are channeling electric tension and new discoveries…nonstop start to finish. Excellent reading, highly recommended, but only if you like strong, well-defined characters and a plot that rages on at warp speed!

I received an ARC edition from Alexa Whitewolf!
