Council of Souls (Fated Eternals #2) by Jen Printy

Council of Souls (Fated Eternals, #2)Life has an expiration date and Death is coming. Just when Jack and Leah think they have faced and survived the worst, Death reveals his plans for Leah’s future and there is little Jack can do but trust in Artagan’s plan to prepare Leah as best he can. He has vowed to ease Leah into the dark world she has become a member of, but can Leah and Jack trust he is telling the truth or will they discover Artagan is being less than forthcoming with his words. As Leah prepares for her first sanctioned “kill,” Jack becomes an interfering boyfriend, but that woman on the train gives him pause and opens a new web of questions that beg to be answered.

So many rivalries, so much hatred and so few answers put Leah in a position she cannot refuse, handling the challenges of delivering death until the ultimate test is placed before her and one of the last pieces that linked her to her humanity could become her greatest and most heartless challenge of all.

The bond between their souls continues to grow as Leah comes to terms with who she was in Jack’s past and learns to identify as one soul with the woman Jack lost long ago. No longer is she just an immortal soul, her body will now last an eternity, also, but can she live with the price to be paid? Can Jack?

Jen Printy’s COUNCIL OF SOULS builds on book one (MY SOUL IMMORTAL)with the same intensity, the same sense of raw conflict and hidden agendas as Jack continues to fight to protect the woman he has loved and lost before and Leah continues to show her inner strength and determination to do what has been set before her, distasteful, painful or not. Artagan is a huge player this time out and his character has been expanded on while I still got the feeling something was not being said. While Jack wears his heart on his sleeve, Artagan holds his close to the vest under a fa├žade of cool indifference and arrogance, but once again, there is more to him than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Leah is like a sponge, absorbing and reluctantly accepting all that is thrown at her.

Jen Printy takes a path less traveled as she pours out another riveting and magnetic tale of the paranormal and makes us look at Death from a very different angle, deep in the shadows around us. From some sweet moments to some quirky ones, to those dark times, Ms. Printy never loses her pace, her step or her perfectly mesmerizing tale of these two souls and their struggle to be together. Brilliant characters, scenes and atmospheres that ran in my mental movie theater in full, high definition color! Did you notice that cover, that attention to detail, its bold design? Jen Printy's words are exactly the same!
