Nick Dawes just had to go and prove something to himself. The brilliant moneyman of the Hudson Kings is in deeeep trouble after losing $20 million during a “freelance” heist, and now a Russian crime boss wants the money and Nick’s head. Nick needs to make himself scarce—and find someone to babysit his fish. Someone like lush, gorgeous Jane MacGregor, who might just be the death of him . . .
After being swindled by her jerk of an ex, Jane can’t say no to house-sitting a luxurious Fifth Avenue penthouse. The only downfall—aside from Nick’s tendency to show up covered in bruises and blood—is an increasingly strong attraction to her superhot and expensively suited-up new boss. Never make the same mistake twice.
But when Nick’s dangerous profession crashes in on Jane’s quiet little world, all hell breaks loose. And Jane is about to find out just what kind of man she’s falling for.

1) Coffee or tea?
Both. Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon. I can’t work without a hot beverage next to me!
2) Walk on the beach or skiing at a remote chalet?
Hmm. I do not like to be cold. But I’ve always wanted to stay in a chalet. How about a walk on the beach and then a jet to a remote chalet where I can sit inside under a massive furry blanket, reading books and drinking hot chocolate?
3) Comedy or drama?
Dramedy, of course!
4) TV or books?
Books or Game of Thrones. But only Game of Thrones. Well, Game of Thrones and BBC Regency and Victorian miniseries. But other than those, books. (And, yes, I did read all of the Game of Thrones books.)
5) Best movie you have watched in 2017 (so far)?
Er, I think I’ve only seen Wonder Woman. LOL. She was great!
6) Best romance you read in 2017 (so far)?
A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet. Fantasy romance. So, so good.
7) A book you wish you had written?
See above. (Sigh.)
8) Favorite romance trope to read?
I love Best Friend’s Sibling and Enemies to Lovers.
9) Favorite romance trope to write?
I like writing about heroes/heroines who have known each other in the past. Not that they were necessarily together, but they knew each other. I’m working on Book 3 of the Hudson Kings and we-have-a-complicated-history is a main trope for that story.
10) Favorite place to write?
At the dining room table. I still haven’t fixed up my office after moving!
11) Your heroine that most closely resembles you?
I’m definitely more Jane than Cecily. Maybe a 60/40 split.
12) A trait that all of your heroes must have?
A fabulous smile and an extremely large…amount of confidence.
13) A setting (city/region) you want to write about in the future?
The Planet Smoop. No, but seriously, folks. I’ve written in so many different settings that I don’t think I missed anything. If I set something in Japan, can I go back to Tokyo for research? I’m dying to go…
14) The actor and actress you used to physically model your H/h after in The Financier?
I had Christina Hendricks in mind for Jane, but a pastiche of super-hot actors and models for Nick.
15) Your favorite scene from The Financier?
That’s really hard. They have a lot of adorable phone calls, too. I just love the way they talk to each other. Jane doesn’t make allowances for the fact that Nick is super rich. She doesn’t let him get away with things. Maybe the scene just before the mail bomb goes off where Jane wants to see just how far she can go making Nick crazy with lust…
16) A song that encapsulates the emotion of The Financier?
Landrifter by Moonlit Sailor.
17) What’s next?
So many hot guys on the Hudson Kings team, so many books to write.
