Like the brutal winds of winter, The Iceman cometh and death will follow. A brilliant killer, he leaves no hint of who he is, only the brutality of death and Detectives Parker Bell and Skylar Wyatt are once again caught on the losing side of hide and seek.
It isn’t until Tessa discovers the bizarre truth of who The Iceman is, that once again, terror will darken the Bell’s doorstep and cut deep into their very fiber. Tessa has enough of a past to deal with, has her walls shut down so tight, no one can reach her, until with one word, her past roars back to life with a jealous vengeance.

Meanwhile, a teen named Winter is determined she knows the identity of the killer and like Tessa, runs off to find proof only to find she may be wrong about the who, but knows she is on the right trail, all she has to do is survive, herself. Will Winter be the key that brings an avalanche of hurt down on The Iceman? As Tessa is once again caught in a life and death situation, it will be family that shows its true colors.

WINTER WONDERLAND grabs you by the throat and hangs on until that final page when you can finally breathe again, relaxing every taut muscle in your body. Jane Blythe tackles dark and ugly by the horns and presents a tale that is razor sharp, emotionally magnetic and so twisted, a Gordian knot would be easier to unravel.

Fresh characters will add depth as the frigid atmosphere of winter fuels the cold heart of The Iceman. One more gem for the thriller/suspense pile from Jane Blythe!

But when an old enemy makes a surprising appearance, she is tested to the point of breaking and risks remaining in this dark abyss forever.

When Prince Bamal finally reveals their secret weapon, will Genevieve have the strength to survive? Even more, when her guardian angel, Thomas, reveals his sinister secret, will she finally fall into darkness and forsake the fate of the world for her broken heart.

Bound in Black by Juliette Cross (The Vessel Trilogy, #3)

Bound in Black (The Vessel Trilogy)Genevieve Drake has become a force to be reckoned with and she is on a mission to save the man she loves. And. She. Will. Not. Be. Stopped. If ever a heroine has grown into herself, her powers and her belief in the only thing to do, it is Genevieve and if you liked her before, you are going to love her now!

Juliette Cross’ BOUND IN BLACK proves that, yes, this series can get even better! Genevieve has a secret and like a mama bear, she will protect that secret with all she has, but she also has a mission of both the heart and of the destiny of the world that will send her into the bowels of Hell, against known and unknown foes alike. She will be brought to her knees with grief, her power will be tested and her faith in those around her will be shaken, but this is a Vessel who cannot fail, there is too much riding on her shoulders…Can she truly bear the weight of what she will endure? Will she come out unscathed? Will her mission be one of rescue and triumph or will it become a nightmare she may never recover from?

When you are deceived by your guardian angel, your true love is missing and demons are knocking at the gates and a poisonous truth is revealed, can you find that last strand of inner strength to push on? This will be Genevieve's greatest test. Will the light of good be a strong enough beacon to guide her through the stygian darkness of evil?

Whoa! Start to finish madness, chaos and turmoil, yet author Juliette Cross brings it all home in a riveting kaleidoscope of action, while never forgetting the romance that has bound this series together! Incredible scenes that come alive, characters that I almost forgot weren’t real and amazing storytelling, it’s all here in the Vessel Trilogy!

One demon prince may be festering in the bowels of hell, but Genevieve’s troubles are far from over. Prince Bamal, demon lord of New York City, still wants her. But this time, he wants her alive. All signs point to the lost prophecy and his desire for her inherent power as a Vessel of Light.

While Jude Delacroix spends his days and nights searching for the prophecy, another protector steps in to take his place. Thomas, a guardian angel, claims Genevieve is his to protect if the demon hunter does not. As threats against her life escalate, he offers her the power to sift. Knowing the transfer of power comes through a kiss, she hesitates. While Gen’s love for Jude is true, Thomas stirs a desire where there should be none. Thomas also knows Jude’s darkest secret and plans to use it, if necessary, to win Genevieve for his own.

Sealed in Sin by Juliette Cross (The Vessel Trilogy, #2)

Sealed in Sin (The Vessel Trilogy)With one demon prince down and out of the picture, Genevieve must now deal with Prince Bamal. Bigger, badder and more powerful than Dante, the demon lord of New York City wants Genevieve, her powers as the Vessel of Light and to defeat the prophecy she is part of, controlling her with his darkness.

While Jude has gone off in search of the missing prophecy, Gen will come face to face with her guardian angel, a being who has watched over her, her entire life. But is Thomas looking for more from Genevieve than she can give? Is he as pure as one would think a guardian angel would be? He can give Gen more power, but at what true price? What is Thomas stirring within Genevieve’s heart and soul? Are his intentions pure or are they SEALED IN SIN?

Juliette Cross will sift us through London, New Orleans, Paris and even to Scotland where a private hideaway could become the only haven Gen and Jude may find. This time out emotions are at the boiling point across the board as hearts are laid bare, doubts and insecurities creep in and every minute brings darkness just a little closer to becoming the reality of the world.

Time for Gen to believe fully in herself and those around her, but will she choose to trust in the wrong people? Perhaps it is better to go with her heart, her soul and her gut because they may need to be her closest allies when the unthinkable happens.

Do you ever wonder what an author is thinking as they begin piling more and more on their heroine? Pretty sure Juliette Cross was testing someone’s limits, not sure if it was Genevieve’s or mine! Talk about gut-clenching chaos and yet, I have faith that Gen will survive! As for me, it was close, I had the grip of death on my Kindle, but I made through, dangling by clenched fingers!

I absolutely love this series, these characters and Juliette Cross’ style, it’s like she “gets” what I want to read!

Raising the Phoenix by Emma Nichols (The Howl Series, #1)

Raising the Phoenix
by Emma Nichols

My rating: 4 stars

Series: The Howl Series - Book 1
Publication Date: December 2, 2017
Publisher: Emma Nichols
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Print Length: 128 pages
Available from: Amazon

The Alpha is the leader of the pack, a revered position, one that can't be inherited, only earned.

For ten years my father groomed me to take over in the event something happened to him. I guess I never expected it to happen so soon. I thought I'd have more time. I thought I'd at least graduate from college first. Instead, life threw the Phoenix Pack a curveball. My father was murdered, and my mother died with him. Suddenly, I'm responsible for my twin sisters, and everyone else. I'm forced to make some tough decisions. And if everyone in the pack has their way, one of those decisions will involve finding my mate. They should've given me an easier task, like brokering world peace or curing cancer. After all, what male would ever volunteer for this, having a mate who's also his Alpha, leaving his pack to join hers, and giving up everything he has ever known?

Raising the Phoenix by Emma Nichols (The Howl Series, #1)

Raising the Phoenix (The Howl Series Book One)Murder, treachery, tests of loyalty, a touch of humor and romance, it’s all there in Emma Nichols’ RAISING THE PHOENIX! Did I mention sexy shifters, too-or a strong female heroine??
Savvy’s father had trained her to be a tough, independent thinking leader, but she never really thought the day would come when she would have to take charge of her father’s pack. It started with a warning from her mother, “Do NOT come home,” so Savvy left college and came back to discover her home burned to the ground and her parents murdered. Taking over as Alpha of the pack came as second nature to her, but when told she should marry to solidify her position, well, let’s just say that raised her hackles some.

Little did she know her perfect mate could be closer than she thought.

Savvy is one tough cookie, strong-willed and trained to stand against all challenges, which were coming at her from all angles. This is a short read, so there was some depth missing that I would have loved to see, but this reads quickly and sets the foundation for future books in the series. I have to say, the whole romance angle had some moments that left me with a smirk, and her pack certainly had its share of male egos that were easily bruised. As the story centered on Savvy, few other characters were detailed, but when all is said and done, I thoroughly enjoyed this quick escape into another world!

Valkyries have one great responsibility: to return immortals to the afterlife by slaying them. As a Valkyrie, Malin has always known that the balance of the world rests on her ability to carry out orders. But when Malin discovers that her mother spared the life of an immortal who was destined to die, her world is thrown into chaos.

Malin not only wrestles with the knowledge that her mother might not be who she thought—she’s also thrust into the path of a gorgeous blue eyed guy named Asher who needs her help slaying the rogue immortal who destroyed his family. The balance of the world is at stake. And, as Asher competes with Malin’s ex for her love and loyalty, so is her heart.

Between the Blade and the Heart (Valkyrie, #1)Between the Blade and the Heart by Amanda Hocking

Between the Blade and the Heart is a brand new series by Amanda Hocking that is based on Norse Mythology and more specifically the training of a young Valkyrie who discovers that her life and all she believed was twisted lies and hidden agendas.

Easy, entertaining a full of potential for another series that will be added to the must pre-order list, I am looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

I'm a fan of Hocking's novels but I had a difficult time connecting with the characters, mostly Malin. I'm chalking this lack of connection up to a newly developing series and hoping that the connection is going to build with the progression of the story/series.

The story is fast paced, action filled, quite unique.

I received this ARC copy of Between the Blade and the Heart from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Between the Blade and the Heart is set for publication Jan. 2, 2018

What doesn't kill her will only make her stronger...we hope.

Heart on Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles, #3)Heart on Fire by Amanda Bouchet

I completely loved it. I finished reading Heart on Fire and went right back and started a re-read of all three books in this series again. My only hope is that Bouchet continues this series and gives us closure for the few open plot lines for the side characters, I'm caught up with the what ifs and where would that plot direction go?

I received an ARC copy of Heart on Fire from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca. This is my honest and voluntary review. Heart on Fire is set for publication Jan. 2, 2017.

He is methodical, adaptable and prepared far more than what the general populace would call “normal” because something like this could never happen, right? Seventeen-year-old Ozzy has a super-hot girlfriend who’s ready to take their relationship to the next level. Tonight. At the lake.

But a missing condom scuttles his plans for seduction. Furious, Ozzy takes his girlfriend home and drives off -- into the path of an oncoming truck. He wakes up in the hospital with both legs amputated above the knees.

When his girlfriend runs out of his hospital room gagging after a single look at him, Ozzy knows he’s a hideous freak. He becomes convinced he’s blown any chance of finding love, a girlfriend or ever having sex.

Determined to prove he can still be a man, Ozzy throws himself into dumping the burden of his virginity, but finds there’s a limited number of people willing to touch legless dudes in wheelchairs. His obsession takes him into the seedy underworld of brothels and escort services where he discovers the difference between sex and intimacy, and that sometimes the price you pay for getting what you want is much higher than a sex worker’s fee.

Stumped by Kate Larkindale

StumpedFor seventeen-year-old Ozzy, it was supposed to be the night he finally lost his virginity, but thanks to Fate and his older brother, that condom he was counting on was not there. Frustrated and distracted, he never noticed the truck racing toward him on the road. What he wakes up to in the hospital is both heartbreaking and life changing. Ozzy has lost both legs from above the knees and his girlfriend’s reaction tells him he will die a freak, a virgin freak. Not only will Ozzy have to cope with his new body, emotionally, physically and mentally, he will become obsessed with having sex, no matter what.

STUMPED by Kate Larkindale should be a sad and gut-wrenching tale of loss, and it is, but it is also a comical look at one teen’s quest to lose his virginity that will teach him more about himself and life than any therapy or counselling session could. Follow Ozzy to the red light district, where illegal sex can’t be bought at any price for a minor, legs or not to the home of a special teen who has openly declared she wants him, because she, too is a virgin.

Through it all, Ozzy will have moments of despair for his condition, moments of self-doubt, stunning revelations about life and those he once called friends. Ozzy will learn what he is made of, who are his allies and the kind of person he wants to be, aside from definitely NOT wanting to remain a virgin!

Heartwarming, filled with humor of all kinds, Ozzy is that character you cannot help but root for from start to finish, just as many of the lesser characters are people you would love to take down a peg or shame in public.

Kate Larkindale has done a masterful job of creating a tale that is riveting from start to finish without being maudlin, in spite of the Ozzy’s loss. A beautiful coming of age story about a flawed boy who will face more in his short life than most of us could ever comprehend having to deal with and Ms. Larkindale still made us smile at, with and for Ozzy.

I received a complimentary Review copy from Evernight Teen.
