...a reverse Kate and Leopold...a light-hearted time travel romance where a bewildered modern-day duke ends up in Regency England and meets the girl of his dreams...
Jared Langley, present-day Duke of Reston, tumbles into an abandoned fountain on his ducal estate and travels back in time to the year 1816. There, Reston servants and local villagers think him a dead ringer for his namesake and rakehell ancestor--the seventh Duke of Reston, gone missing at the Battle of Waterloo. Unfortunately, Seven got mixed up with French spies out to assassinate the Duke of Wellington, and an unwary Jared ends up in their crosshairs.

Lady Ariana Hart has loved Jared Langley, the seventh Duke of Reston, since she was twelve years old, until the night the rogue broke her heart. Given up for dead, her rakish neighbor makes a miraculous return from Waterloo--only Jared shows up a changed man and reignites all the feelings Ariana had long ago buried.

Jared is in a race against time. He must waylay the suspicions of his quirky servants and neighbors, get to Wellington before the French spies do, fix his fountain--before Seven shows up--so Jared has a way home, and definitely not fall in love with the irresistible Lady Ariana.

Duke du Jour by Petie McCarty (Lords of Time, #1)

Duke du Jour (Lords in Time, #1)He comes from a long and distinguished line of dukes, well most of them were distinguished. Jared Langley, thirteenth Duke of Reston, wealthy, handsome and jaded by life and love is determined to marry for love or never marry at all, appearances be damned. After finding and reading the journals of the previous dukes, and watching the wretched marriage his parents had, Jared, a family history buff realizes that only his namesake, the seventh duke has no journal, no history and he is determined to find the missing missive. And then, Fate did him one turn better, or at least more unbelievable...

Jared fell into a fountain only to find himself in 1816, mistaken for the number seven, long thought killed at the Battle of Waterloo. Feigning amnesia, Jared is about to discover who and what his ancestor was, a wastrel, a scoundrel, a rake and a womanizer who lived for the moment, spent the family fortune like it was sand through is fingers and all around him think he is THAT Jared.

When the lovely Lady Ariana, next door neighbor and the girl he never noticed, in spite of her love for him. Clearly number seven was an idiot, because Jared finds the feisty and beautiful Ariana to be nothing short of amazing, but being able to keep her are pretty much impossible, the whole time travel thing, you know. So, how does he get to know her better, without leading her on or worse, without falling in love with her? How does he get back to his own time, in case number seven shows up alive? How does he forget the only woman he felt he could love?

Petie McCarty’s DUKE DU JOUR is just delightful reading, period! Filled with humor, some heartbreak, a lot of misunderstandings and a modern day duke pretending to be his ancestor, while not being the rake number seven was, this twisted tale of time will captivate readers from start to finish! Witness the nineteenth century come to life without all of the stuffed shirt stiffness as one man finds his true love while being in the right place but in the wrong time. Sweet, adventurous and certainly eye-opening for Jared, this is one time travel read that no one could resist!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Petie McCarty! This is my honest review...I loved it!
