Taiwan is a beautiful land—a sub-tropical paradise teeming with life and a bit of magic. People from all over the world are drawn to this breathtaking island, some for a few days, some for weeks, but many for years.
With this fifth short story collection by Taipei Writers’ Group, you will be treated to seven fictional tales by expat writers who have lived in Taiwan and absorbed some of the magic and life that is Formosa.
From modern-day love stories to ghost stories and urban fantasies, this collection will allow you to see the island through the lens of foreigners who have chosen to call it “home.”
Taiwan Tales Volume 2: An Anthology by Ray Hecht and more
Sample the culture of Taiwan as seen and felt through the eyes of those who have chosen to make it home, even for a short time. Some stories will be humorous, some a little spooky, the points of view may change, the attitudes towards traditions and beliefs may change, but through it all, these authors have a resounding theme, a closeness to the land and the people that make up the heart and soul of Taiwan.
These authors have put together well-written tales that are diverse, yet insightful and intriguing to one who has never experienced the magic of the island. A lovely collection from a talented group of authors that was marred only by political statements that some felt necessary to inject into their tales, cheapening the fictional creativity of their words and jarring readers from the tales being told. Readers are clearly far more savvy than these authors have given them credit for, perhaps that is a learned awareness that writers grow into? Five star story possibilities!
