The heist of the decade and yet, no one would have guessed... it was her!
The Milanese stars are missing from the famous Buccatino boutique. When American insurance investigator, Samuel Keane is called in to liaise with the polizia, he finds the whole heist odd. Not only are the Milanese stars, a set of five pink diamonds, not listed in the inventory of stolen items, worse, none of the surrounding owners witnessed a thing.
Samuel is anxious to solve the case and partners with local café owner, Vita, who has a very good vantage point to watch Buccatino. As he digs further into the history of the stars, he discovers Vita's friends and her physically challenged sister are all connected to them.
The more Samuel investigates, the more dangers he and Vita face.
Can he solve the case and what will happen with Vita? What will he do when he learns the heist of the decade isn't about stealing pink diamonds... it's about settling the score!
The Milanese Stars by Pamela Q. Fernandes
A major jewelry heist with no witnesses. Someone is flirting with danger when they rob a mob boss’ shop, but who did it is not nearly as baffling as why a priceless set of pink diamonds, thought to be part of the inventory were never mentioned. American insurance investigator, Samuel Keane smells something fishy, but putting his finger on it could be impossible.
Vita is a beautiful cafe owner, directly across from the burgled shop, but, like the rest of her neighbors, she knows nothing. Intrigued by Vita, and as her shop provides the perfect “home base” for Samuel, sparks will fly, but will those sparks blind him to the truth? Does Vita know more than she lets on? Will Samuel ever get to the truth? Is this a case of revenge or perhaps Karma?
THE MILANESE STARS by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a quick read with a touch of romance, some suspense and definitely some intriguing twists! Vita was a bit “distant” to me and the instant attraction between her and Samuel almost seemed “too instant.” That said, the plot was brilliantly twisted and stood strong on its own, although, I greedily wanted more of it!
