It’s June, 1949 and Boston is thriving with opportunity. Eve Antinozzi is determined to take advantage of each and every one. Unfortunately, Eve’s quest for independence is constantly challenged by her overbearing father.
Rennie Chambers returns from college a newly Registered Pharmacist. His homecoming, however, is bittersweet - his father passed away six months earlier. Now Rennie must take over the family business; his grieving mother by his side.
When Mrs. Chambers travels to California for a wedding, Rennie is ready to meet the responsibility he has inherited. Natalie, Eve’s best friend, works at Chambers Pharmacy as a summer associate. When Natalie is suddenly taken ill, Rennie must turn to Eve for help.
Neither Eve nor Rennie is prepared for the bond that is forged between them. But the more they try to deny their true feelings, the deeper their love grows. As their relationship unfolds, the external forces that ultimately try to tear them apart are revealed.
Charles DeMarco is a family friend with whom Eve has frequently corresponded, but hasn’t seen in years. What Eve doesn‘t realize is that Charles is also the man she has been betrothed to since childhood.
Eve and Rennie profess their love for each other on Eve’s nineteenth birthday. Eve rushes home to share the news with her family, only to be greeted by Charles and his unwanted proposal.
Eve is determined to be with Rennie. First, she must confront her father.
A Promise to Love is a timeless tale of love and the challenges that threaten even the strongest promise.
A Promise to Love by Robert Bradshaw

A Promise to LoveThe power of young love, the promises made, the dreams of the future and the stark realities of life all make Robert Bradshaw’s A PROMISE TO LOVE a timeless read for romantics, from young adults on up.

In 1949, Fate put Eve Antinozzi and Rennie Chambers on a path to a soul-deep love, family obligations will try to poison that love, but time will prove that real love is deeper than a promise, stronger than a prayer and will always live on in the heart.

Robert Bradshaw has written a sweet, historical young adult romance based on some truths in his own family. He has captured the era and the innocence, the shyness and uncertainty of a budding young love. He has also captured the desperate strength of a love meant to be. I’ll be honest, this one had me in awe at the strong beginning and in tears at the end!

Wonderful characters, a heartfelt story, age appropriate for young adults and not-so-young adults alike! A PROMISE TO LOVE is definitely one of those hidden gems that deserves to shine bright at the top of any reading list!
