Olivia Petersen is a good woman, a good mother, a good wife. She's got it made. She doesn't want anything to change.
Of course, it does...
Swept from her perfect paper-doll life in Houston, Olivia finds herself in Chicago, alone, betrayed, and far from home. Soon everything she thought she knew about herself and her life will be challenged. She has only courage, love, and her passion for music to carry her through the maelstrom--or draw her further in.

Ash Harper is the man who has everything--everything except healing from the losses of a lifetime. His only peace lies in the sweet flow of music pouring from his guitar.

What happens when the married woman and the sexy handsome widower are thrown together by fate?

Out of the Box Awakening is a women's contemporary romance about second chances, shared passion and shared joy. Jennifer Theriot has written a compelling series about what happens when two people over the age of thirty find new life and new love for themselves and for those around them.
Contains adult language and situations, and is intended for readers over the age of 18.

(Out of the Box, #1)

Out of the Box Awakening (Out of the Box, #1)A standing ovation to Jennifer Theriot for letting the world know that, yes, people over 35 still feel, dream and yearn for an intimate connection with another human being! Oh, and they don’t necessarily look like shriveled, lumpy prunes, either. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the mindset of the beholdee, and, and…and anyway, not everyone gets the chance for their own OUT OF THE BOX AWAKENING, but one woman did and this is her story.

At 57, Olivia Petersen becomes a statistic after she and her husband move across country in a corporate move. Instead of starting a new life together with Alan, Olivia finds herself the last to know that her husband is leaving her for another woman. What was meant to be a temporary living arrangement, while house hunting, becomes a new lease on life for Olivia as the wealthy widower, 60ish Ash Harper becomes her mature knight in shining armor, intimacy sensei and best friend.

Jennifer Theriot has done a remarkable job of reminding the world that second chances can be had at any age and that mature romance can be the most satisfying and restorative.

We are invited to spend some time seeing the world from Olivia’s point of view, as we witness her learn about true intimacy and selfless love. Olivia seems to have been a late bloomer, perhaps because she was treated like a mushroom and kept in the dark? Perhaps because she never put the effort into her almost 30 year marriage to keep it alive? Ash is near-perfect, almost too near to perfect…but together, these two prove that love an intimacy can be found and worked at, at any age.

A little bit long, but with lots going on, readers will find humor, heart and warmth, as well as a group of characters learning to open their hearts and their arms to a new and improved lives.
