What is a dragon without a maiden?
Keira and her mother disagree over what makes a good husband, but the truth is, prospects in her village are slim. So when Aaron Drake arrives in the village and sets his sights on her, she cannot help but be interested. It's not just his handsome looks or easy confidence that captures her attention, but rather an air of otherness. Something that sets him apart.
But Aaron is not the only new arrival. A fire-breathing dragon has taken up residence in the surrounding mountains, and the villagers are certain that it is just a matter of time before the creature destroys them all. They will discover, however, that danger often comes in a simpler guise, and Keira soon finds herself caught up in events that will completely change the course of her life, placing her on a path fraught with danger and intrigue. But sometimes the greatest challenges we face are those that come from within, and Keira has to decide if she can pay the price that love demands.
Bound by a Dragon by Linda K. Hopkins
(The Dragon Archives, #1)
The village knew the stories of fire-breathing dragons that once soared in the skies and they feared their return. When a handsome stranger moves into the mysterious Storbrook Castle, just as a dragon was seen in flight, Keira was intrigued, and most definitely interested in the Aaron Drake. Who is this man who peaks her interest and makes her heart pound? Refined, intelligent and something more…Aaron Drake is about to change Keira’s world, forever.
BOUND BY A DRAGON by Linda K. Hopkins is a wonderful dragon tale, touched by romance, adventure and while not a rapid-fire read, the pace is perfect for a fantasy escape from reality! I loved how refined Aaron seemed, calm in the face of conflict, self-assured. Keira was a woman ahead of her time, not willing to be the cowering wench who accepts her “fate” as a woman.
No explicit sex, just that feeling of fade to black and romance. Linda K. Hopkins has nailed the mystery of dragons without making them wild monsters. Besides this is fantasy, pure entertainment where anything can be however the author wants! I loved this story, the main characters and, come on, a castle and a dragon…not to mention a hidden lesson about acceptance of those who are different…because, yes, people can be a little closed minded to simple truths.
