An action-packed Urban Fantasy set in New York and Paris
Around the world, people die under mysterious circumstances. Each has a sign. Each is a piece of a jigsaw puzzle. A NYC interior designer Jason Walker receives a message saying he is the final piece.

Emily Ethan, a startling beauty with supernatural powers, appears and tells Jason that powers dormant within him are about to wake. He is the only person who can prevent darkness from enslaving the world. He is the Beholder whose advent has been awaited for many years.

Setting out on a journey with Emily, Jason discovers the world he could have never imagined, but the greatest surprise arrives the moment he realizes he has fallen in love with Emily.

After Emily Ethan is gone, Jason is left with too many questions unanswered. Betrayed by the one he loved and yet hurting after losing her, Jason is eager to find out what actually happened to Emily.

When he least expects it, the Darksighted return to New York City, but they are not after Jason. They seek to destroy those who may know something about where Emily can be.

The more Jason gets to know the world of Energy and Sight, the harder it is for him to belong in this world. He can’t enter the Sight when there are too many people around. And then Emily comes to his dreams and gives him clues of where to look for the answers.

The question is: should he believe her, or is it just another attempt to get him killed?

Ian Amberlake was a good sport and took the Tome Tender Hot Seat
Here are THREE things about him that nobody knows (except us)

1) my pen name “Amberlake” combines two beautiful images: that of my wife’s beautiful eyes when she looks at the sun (the dark brown of her eyes turns a most fascinating shade of amber), and that of a lake at sunset when its surface turns amber as well. It’s in no way connected with Justin Timberlake;

2)  when I sit down to write a book, I have absolutely no idea what I’m going to write about, and I’m often very surprised to find things happening in the novel without my interfering, and it makes the writing process unpredictably enjoyable;

3) I’m a huge procrastinator! Even though I know I love writing, I can often find ridiculous reasons not to get down to my WIPs. That’s probably because I’m very insecure about what I’ll get in the end. What actually inspired me to finish Path of the Heretic is my online friends’ support, and I’m grateful to them for it!

Meet Ivan Amberlake
An urban fantasy writer, an avid beta-reader, proofreader and editor who enjoys reading fantasy, crime and thriller books.

I love active protagonists who get into a lot of trouble on their way to the truth, and never give up whatever happens to them.

I love watching action movies like The Matrix, Harry Potters and have a soft spot for sitcoms like Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

"The Beholder" is my debut paranormal fantasy novel. This is what Joe Kovacs, #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of "Ginger the Gangster Cat", said about it: 'THE BEHOLDER is a tight and fast-paced thriller combining the crawling claustrophobia of Stephen King's "It" and the exciting arcane symbol-hunting of "Celestine Prophecy"'

A HarperCollins editor said in their review of The Beholder: "[Amberlake] shows a real passion for language in his descriptions."
