Five years crawled by at a painfully slow pace for young vampire, Beth; each year more agonizing than the next. The powerful unyielding spell which masked Amon’s whereabouts showed no signs of weakening. Influenced by the binding ritual and Amon’s blood surging inside her, Beth will stop at nothing, and risk everything, to find him and turn the tables on Osiris, Isis, and Hathor. In foggy streets of London, lives are threatened by a new breed of hunter, and nothing is what it seemed. Beth once again finds herself surrounded by betrayal. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between Philippe and Amon – knowing that her decision will change one life forever. But whose?
Bound by Blood by Laura Daleo ( Immortal Kiss, #2)
Maybe being a vampire isn’t what’s it’s cracked up to be. Instead of a few years of betrayals, deceit and the anguish of a lost love, you could face an eternity of it. Then again, With Beth’s tender heart still yearning for Amon, lost for five years behind a masking spell, I imagine every day felt like an eternity. She will do anything to find him, risk everything and vows to somehow make Osiris, Isis and Hathor pay, but first she needs to find them.
Then, Amon suddenly returns, the spell has been broken and Beth is torn between two lovers, the man of her heart, the one she is blood-bonded with and the man she married while thinking he was another Amon. Phillipe deceived her, but she feels something for him, just not eternal love. When deadly human hunters come gunning for vampires, Beth will face yet another betrayal in the cruelest form. Her bond with Amon becomes her greatest strength as she discovers the whereabouts of the three vampire gods she seeks. Does she still want revenge? Is it time for retribution for the pain she has suffered? Will she ever get her happy ever after with Amon?
Laura Daleo’s Bound By Blood is equal parts anguish, frustration and joy as reunions are marred by death and anger. Beth has a huge heart, but she seemed to lack the will to go on much longer, as her self-destructive ways start to fill her nights. Was it the lack of Amon in her life that has made her a clinging vine? Phillipe was like a chameleon who slipped up a few times while Amon was almost too quietly patient, then again, he can afford to be as an ancient vampire. The rest of the cast each have their own special personalities from flashy demon to kind and caring father-figure vampire. Love them!
If you are looking to enjoy a paranormal romance without the in-your-face steam, Laura Daleo’s writing gets my “Mom Safe” approval! A little high on angst, but definitely some great action that never gets too bloody or gory! It’s nice to find “nice” vamps to spend an afternoon with!
