Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
This series has taken a very dark and twisted air. All along there has been twist, turns and darkness but it hasn't overshadowed the characters. Even with all the tribulations in the past there seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't see a light this time and we are left without resolve. I am conflicted with this turn from epic fantasy to a dark fantasy and not sure I like it.
That being said, I was riveted to the pages, white knuckle reading throughout and am completely invested in Aelin's plight.
Empire of Storms is left with a huge cliffhanger as well as a bunch of unknown plot directions that we didn't know existed till it is thrust at us at the very end. Of course, I will read on but I can't help but have anxiousness overshadowing the excitement the next story in this series should bring.
