Dawn Dagger's My British Bear Promo Tour & #Giveaway

My British Bear

After two months of hell living with her uncle, Maria is ready to give up. She’s already lost everything, and has no one to hold on to. Stuck in a small town where she knows not a single person, and physically abused by her uncle, she sees no hope. The only respite she gets from the hits on all sides is the small coffee shop down the road.

An unlikely accident results in meeting a backwards British kid who is too polite and awkward for his own good. Maria starts to see a light in the darkness, but she’s also afraid of it.

She has had her heart broken before, a hundred times in a hundred ways, and she doesn’t know if she’s ready to love, ready to let go, or even ready to face the reality of things. She doesn’t know if she’s ready to open up again and be happy.

She doesn’t know if she’s ready to live.

Dawn Dagger has had a passion for reading and writing ever since she could remember. When she was six she drew and wrote her very own book, and though it hardly makes sense now, she was so proud. She has written many books, short stories, and poems since then, and continues to do so. Dawn placed highly in her two middle school years of Power of the Pen and even has her short story ‘The Haunting’ published in an anthology, She admits she isn’t good at anything physical (except some ballroom dancing), or video games, but she does enjoy a nice game of Mario Kart, a trip fishing, or just a walk in the woods. She has a knack for taking pictures of whatever catches her eye; especially brightly colored flowers. Dawn is a sucker for a good fantasy book, lives off of coffee, and loves her wonderful family and friends, and her dedicated boyfriend, Nevin, who is just like a romance novel character.

Author Guest Post

I have been given the honor of doing a guest post on this great blog! This calls for confetti! *confetti*

The question I have been given is ‘Who is the real life Dawn Dagger’?

When I saw that question I took a very deep breath and slowly blew it out. Who is the real life Dawn Dagger? What did that mean? What did she want to know? What was I supposed to say? I didn’t know and freaked out. xD

So, I emailed her back and she said to write on my personality type.

I can do this!

Hello! My name is Dawn Dagger. My personality type is so broad and changing that even that big ol’ personality test that describes everyone to a tee (16Personalities) doesn’t even know me! I’m not used to telling about myself, so here goes!

I’m a happy-go-lucky girl who has a short temper and a bit of an insecurity issue. I only consider three people my very good friend, friends enough to talk to. I actually have great trust issues, and so don’t open up too often.

That being said, I use much self expression through my characters, because I don’t always feel I can express myself in real life situations. My character, Jess, is a happy-go-lucky girl who doesn’t have any cares in the world and is super hyper. I feel like that’s a small part of me most people don’t see because I don’t want to be annoying. Chloe is uber smart, Maria has trust issues, and so many other characters represent parts of me.

Each main character, especially the girls, in my novels, represent parts of me or are different faces of me. I love writing because I can pour myself and my soul onto paper and no one would ever know that it was me in that situation.

I also had a lack of trust for guys for a very long while, and hated relationships and how guys and girls acted in my school, so I started writing romance novellas to capture what I think relationships should be. What trust and love should be. I wrote all of my boy characters because I wanted guys like that. Not that they were perfect, no, they all had their flaws, but they were what a human being should be.

Zachary was cocky and self-confident. He was slightly insecure and had problems with being too rash, but he was also helpful, happy, and made everyone laugh. Brooks was too submissive, he didn’t communicate his feelings and was too giving towards others, but he was adorably awkward, gentle, and kind. Seth was protective and a loyal friend, even though he had security problems and cut himself.

Each guy had their own flaws, but they were good people, which is why I loved creating them and developing them. Because they were what I thought people should be, and they surprised me as an author.

I’m kind of a back and forth girl, and it’s amusing to me. I couldn’t care less about my room being a mess, but if we’re decorating everything better be perfect and even. The weird octagon of beehives or the unnatural texture of chicken bones both make me sick to my stomach for some reason. The nice, loud clicking of keyboards soothe me and make me feel accomplished. I won’t read a book no matter how good it is if the font is weird or if I don’t like the writer’s voice. I used to despise country music, but now I like certain country songs. Sometimes I’ll adore screaming hard rock, and other times I just want gentle instruments.

I’m a good Christian girl, but I love listening to early 2000’s music, and there are some songs that are bad, but no matter what they make me dance and smile. Fallout, Mr. Brightside, and Savior are those three songs. I actually really don’t like contemporary Christian music, it all sounds the same. I honestly really like covers of music, Ed Sheeran, and early 2000’s stuff. And Celtic! Celtic is the best!

I’m a sap. Hallmark movies and sweet love songs (i.e. Perfect by Ed Sheeran) can make me cry. Babies make me squeal happily. I’m also extremely creative. I love photography because it’s like writing. I can change perspectives and create entire worlds by just changing the angle of the camera. There’s something just stunning about having that ability.

I love dancing. I’m not good at much besides flower photography and writing, but I sure as heck try, I don’t give up, and I just love dancing. I take ballroom dancing and there is nothing like doing East Coast or Foxtrot to one of your favorite songs with a person who is your best friend. It’s the most wonderful, fulfilling experience I’ve had the joy of witnessing with another person to date. I’m learning Cha Cha right now, and goodness is it hard, but if I can master this then it will be something great. Dancing will make me get over everything. If I am sad I dance by myself or with a friend and everything is okay. It’s invigorating.

I also am learning Francais and it’s fun and amazing and taking notes in l'anglais et francais est really fun. Fun until I’m trying to email people and trying to type in French as well as English and trying not to confuse people, that is!

Well, I think I’ve written enough for now!! In summary, I’m crazy, love losing myself to music and dance, and have a burning passion to change things, read, and write.

Hope you guys enjoyed this and thanks again for hosting me! I hope you all have amazing days!
