According to the Lost Texts, the sins of the mother are laid on the shoulders of her female children
My mother was a necromancer and the shadow of her conviction and death blots out my hard work to be considered Pious Standing in the very religious settlement where I live.
Though I’ve been exonerated through the Necromancer Trial, there are those who are convinced that I am a heretic, a devil-woman, someone who should be exiled, or worse, killed. I have to escape and my only hope is for Quade to win my hand at the Bridal Auction.

The Accused Dead by Rhiannon Frater
(The Hidden Necromancer #2)

The Accused Dead (The Hidden Necromancer #2)Just when you think Ilyse’s world couldn’t make your skin crawl any more, Rhiannon Frater gives it one more sadistic twist, followed by another and wraps it up in a barbed wire tale of evil, egos, and perverted power.

THE ACCUSED DEAD may, at first glance, start out a little slow, over-wrought with dark, demented customs that are heart-piercing and anger inducing. BUT, as I slid into Ilyse’s life, the stacked-against-her deck she has been dealt, every excruciating event, it felt real. I felt her feelings, saw events through her eyes and understood so many of her actions.

The Bridal Auction becomes one more thing for Ilyse’s people, her father and the Elders to torment and humiliate her with. If not for the few, unexpected allies she finds, even her own heart and determination wouldn’t be enough for her to survive as she discovers what powers she truly possesses and the truths about the Dead.

Deliciously dark, torturously tense and emotionally gutting, Ms. Frater’s world is nothing short of a living nightmare. Fabulous world-building, tremendously strong character development, this is NOT your typical zombie read, but it may be one of your most intense!

I received a complimentary copy from Rhiannon Frater!
