Lottie Madison has an almost idyllic life in Delta, until the state decides to destroy the village to create a reservoir. As friends and neighbors move away, their houses are reduced to rubble.
Lottie’s parents hang on, convinced an old magic will protect them and their family home. All magic comes with a price. Lottie fears if the magic is real, the price will be her own life.
Delta by Jordan Elizabeth
Perfect reading when time is short and missing out on some potentially fascinating details, Jordan Elizabeth’s DELTA takes a little history and infuses fantasy into an eerie tale of one town and one family in particular who become victims of “progress.”
It’s 1917 and the Madison family believes their mill and their ancestral home will never face the flooding of the valley they live in to make way for commercial water traffic and the necessary dams it would need. Even as their neighbors are systematically evicted, they remain steadfast that they will be saved.
What does the Madison family know that no else does? One teen will discover a lifetime of lies and deceit and the truth of the magic that lay all around her.
I would have LOVED for this brief tale to be more fleshed out! The storyline is fabulous and begs for more detail, but alas, made for a brief reading escape, one’s imagination must fill in the blanks!
